T-RD Pearl vs Fire Up
« on: September 25, 2007, 01:02:22 PM »
How close are these too balls I have
a T-RD Pearl but no Fire Up?
From my T-RD Pearl I go too my Pyro or Thunder ST Pearl.
Do I need a Fire Up having a T-RD Pearl that
I really like alot?

Big difference is covers - R2S of TR Pearl gives it better traction in oil, even shiny.

TR Pearl seems to get stronger when you keep it shined up. Have seen some that have been dulled down a bit and they were not as strong as the ones that were kept shined up.

FU is a very good ball. But it is not as strong as the TRP.

Anyone who thinks a T-Road Pearl has more muscle then a Fired Up MUST be hand impaired. The majority people think the TRP is stronger, that's because it rolls sooner. The Fired Up is in the range of a Paradigm type piece off the break point. Very angular, that hockey stick shape is why people seem to like it's brother, the Spit Fire more. Less violent motion and easier for people to read.

I retired my 1st FU after two trips to Tirolocos (Puerto Rico) and my 2nd one is a year old now, looking like it's been in a bar fight it's so beat up. That ball is still waaaaaaay more aggressive then my TRP drilled the same way. TRP is a great ball but it does not have that down the lane range of the FU. Two different shapes going down the lane, both have their purpose.

Straight Ball, your argument can be looked at two ways: Rolling sooner in oil can be seen as having more muscle, just as being more skid/flippy can be seen as having more muscle.

That is why I try never to simply say that one ball is stronger or hooks more than another.

The key is WHERE it hooks and HOW it hooks.

On super dry lanes, a dull particle will essentially have less hook than a Tropical Storm because the particle will be hooked out by the time it gets to the arrows after maybe moving just a little and quitting while the Tropical will go down and flip somewhat at some point.
Conversely, on super oily lanes a dull particle will make a discernible move while even an aggressive shiny ball may go straight through the pins.

If there is juice on the lane I use my Fired Up, if they break down, I go to my T-Road Pearl. I actually go to my ThunderStruck solid (6x4) before my T-Road Pearl. My FU and TRP are 5 1/2 x 4 1/2.

And they should ban particle, tired of seeing bowlers blow the 3 units of oil on the lane off, praying they can wrinkle it 5 boards.
