How is the nano pearl?
« on: January 08, 2012, 12:12:07 PM »
So far, I haven't seen a lot of post regarding the VG Nano pearl...I won a ball raffle, thinking of getting one, or I can get anything else to my choosing, as long as it is a Storm or Roto grip.

Can somebody give me some feedback, if I should get this. thanks.

I have had one for a while probably got a good 70-80 games on it. I like it. However, for me it is not as described by Storm. It doesn't really handle much oil even after knocking the polish off. I think of it as a very good ball for a house shot that allows me to stay closer to the track area for a lot longer. For me it covers less boards than a Frantic or Reign Supreme but it is still a very nice piece. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has trouble making the corner when I have to move in. But the Frantic and other pieces I have do that job well. The ball has really good carry though when in the pocket.

I have not experienced what "tdub36tjt " said. Myself and a teammate use the ball in a house that runs a 43' house shot and we both play deep. But at my other league which is on a wood surface and less oil, IT NEVER WORKS! That's the house I use my Frantic as it is cleaner through the fronts.

Maybe you can share with us what you want your free ball to do. Heavy oil, light oil, ect...
Bakes...Bevel is for wimps!!!

I have one and love it it really is a nice predictable piece as said befor it isnt the strongest ball out there but it hits nice and carrys really well I have shot a 300 and a 299 with mine this year. If u are looking for a strong pearl the marvel pearl is a beast it is by far stronger then the nano pearl and covers close to the same boards that my nano original covered just way more entry angle. Hope this helped and I have most ot the new storm balls out if u wanna ask any more questions.

You need to compete for something greater than just winning.

Thank you guys for your input, I already own a critical theory, 2 VG nano, infinite theory, I would like something that would compliment these balls I own.

I am a tweener when it comes to house shot, on a sport shot more of a stroker, med. speed, not a lot of revs. maybe I should consider a mervel....can't decide.

I have a Virtual Gravity Nano Pear drilled 4x4 stacked leverage.  This ball is very strong for a pearl and handles oil quite well.  It has length and does not squirt in the oil.  I bowl on synthetic lanes with a THS 41 feet with heavier oil 10 to 10 and drier boards right of the second arrow.  The Nano Pearl is a beast on this condition, and I am able to play between 11 to 14 at the arrows out to about 8 to 10  at 35 to 40 feet down the lane.  The ball flips as soon at it encounters friction, and once it flips it keeps on going right through the pin deck.  The ball allows rotationally challenged players to open up the lanes.  The ball is so strong that you need to throw it hard and keep up the speed or it hooks too much.  For me, it is about 5 to 7 boards stronger than my Anarchy, which is a strong pearl as well.  As the lanes break down, all I have to do is chase the oil line and move a bit deeper.  This ball has incredible pin carry even from deeper inside.  The ball is very strong at the back end and handles carry down quite well.  The angle of entry this ball creates on a THS is incredible, which helps to generate the explosive pin action.  The only drawback with this ball is that if you get a bit slow with your speed and /or tug the ball inside your spot, you will leave some wicked splits.  There is some tug room, but you have to keep up the speed.

Length with strong back end is what this ball is about, and nobody does it better than Storm!

I agree to what Mr. Straight Ball said above. I have a Nano Pearl and it handles the oil really well!! I love the feel of pearls from Roto-Storm!!
