Marvel vs Victory Road Solid
« on: July 02, 2011, 07:47:13 AM »
Hi All,

I have the opportunity to buy one of these balls. I would be using them for heavier sports & tournament patterns.

Those of you that have thrown both, what are the major differences and which might perform better on the heavier house, sports and tournament patterns?

Thanks in advance

Here would be the difference in those two balls, lets start with the Marvel.
The Marvel has a low RG and a pretty high Diff, that means this core is more center heavy and that is going to want to roll sooner and flare quite a bit. This combo is going to read the middle of the lane sooner and hook more overall with a smoother path to the pocket. It has a strong coverstock on it to displace the oil on the lane faster, create more friction and start hooking sooner.

The Victory Road Solid has a high RG and high diff, that means the core is more top heavy and going to go longer before it wants to start rolling. This cover is also pretty strong, but not quite as strong as the Marvel. Victory Road Solid will go longer than the Marvel but will change direction on the backend stronger than the Marvel.

It kind of depends on what you're looking for, a smoother arc or a more flippy motion. If you want smooth go Marvel. If you want more backend, go Victory Road. Both would work, its what you prefer to see.
I LOVE my victory road pearl and can't wait for the Solid.  Hope this helps!

I have both, and I'd have to agree.  I drilled the VRS 55* 4 3/4" 65* that gave me a pretty strong midlane read and an aggressive, continuous motion in the back.  When I had to move inside, it became overly aggressive, that's where my 80* 5 1/4" 20* MP.  I drilled it this way to have I ball for when I have to play inside on long broken down patterns.  A very long skid with a late flip reaction.  Complements the marvel and prodigy very well.

I stone 8s and 9s like its cool...
