Title: ...time to buy
Post by: Ragu13 on January 23, 2014, 05:47:24 AM
Have just recently purchased  a Sync and a Marvel S

I watched some ball videos and spoke with a few amateur staffer friends and it was all the same opinions...these 2 pieces will compliment each other very well.

Now I'm sitting in my house staring at 2 freshly purchased globes, with no holes...makes it difficult to determine if they are in fact good for each other lol

I am considering drilling both of them the same (pins and pre drilling weights very similar) and I hope the cores and surface differences will create the variation in ball reactions I am looking for.

If I use the same layout for both, will the reaction and overall board coverage be too similar or will there be a significant enough of a difference that it would be worth it.

Any advice would be appreciated

I just hope you see some oil, that sync needs a lot.

I hope you have a lot oil or a lot of ball speed or better yet, both. Both balls are near the top in strength (storm's strongest coverstock and very low RG) and, as such, they need oil or very firm ball speed to clear the heads on medium oil.

Call me crazy, but I have a slow ball speed...right around 15-15.5. My sync has a decently far pin to pap (ends up being pin above the bridge) and I LOVE it.   The ball has no problem on ths, however I am on synthetics....my buddies who drilled it strong never get to use it...

I also have the marvel-s...I am planning to polish it? What do you guys think? Anyone polish NRG? My "S" is too strong aand is harder to play with than the sync..

AFAIK, the NRG is Storm's equivalent of the Defiant coverstock, a particle one. Polishing the Marvel should still allow it to be fairly grippy but get more length and handle slightly less oil. I'd suspect that a polished Marvel-S will be a better complement to the Sync than a dull one. I'd suggest sanding it to 1500 or 2000 grit before adding a medium dose of polish.

Hard to argue with self proclamation...
