Secret Agent and Attitude Shift
« on: October 25, 2007, 02:34:32 AM »
Do these two balls complement each other or are they too much like the same ball.  Im getting a secret drilled on Friday b/c i need a new ball now, but im definately interested in the attitude shift and may add both to my arsenal.

I am a lefty and throw the ball about 16-17mph with mid revs. My left foot starts just right of the middle dot on the approach and i swing my ball out to the 8-10 board. I average about 195-205 depending on the league, but I am always using old equipment and only use 1 ball. (just so you have my specs).

SECRET and ATTITUDE are very, very, very different. ATTITUDE makes a way stronger move and is great as a ball to get in and get after it with. SECRET gives you control at the break point. Amount of hook can be the same, depending on surface prep and drilling, but motion is very different.

The Secret is more like a Sure Fire...lots of control and power built in...the Secret can just handle more oil than the Sure Fire due to the particle load and stronger core...

At similar surfaces and layouts the secret is a few boards right of the attitude for me...the attitude really rounds the corner nice for me where as the Secret will not when i get in with it.  two very different reactions as Riggs said...

From what I understand, the Secret Agent is a light-load particle ball which is designed to have more of a continuous arcing motion, while the Attitude Shift is a reactive ball that's designed to go longer with a strong backend arc.

Good Topic im thinkin of Drilling a Attitude Shift to compliment my Secret Agent. Im gonna bring my SA down to 500 and since it has a really really smooth reaction with the layout I have one it. Use the Attitude Shift for fresh heavy oil and use the SA for Floods.

So they do compliment each other?  Maybe a better question is, if they are drilled pretty much the same way, what conditions is each ball most useful for?

I think some people already have them.  My pro shop had one and I got to smell it.  Hehe...

So i finally got my attitude shift.  I only threw one game w/ it b/c there were no open lanes.  I actually got one of the guys at the lanes to allow me to throw before a league started their practice, so they were freshly oiled.  I cant believe the energy left in the backend of this ball.  While I do not have as large of an overall hook as that buddiesproshop video, I have a much sharper backend than whats seen in the video that just destroys pins.  Im currently standing left foot on the middle dot and throw it out to the 10 and it just goes super long and doesnt miss a beat on the backend.

I currently have my ball drilled pin over w/ a weight hole, so I am not sure how that drill is.  (the proshop guy told me AFTER he drilled mine that it was his first attitude drill and he "just tried something out")  Its working well for me though.

Btw, this is the last time i ever preorder a ball at a proshop, i got royally screwed.  $255 for this ball.  I could have gotten the shift and a troadsolid for the same price probably.  Anyway, in the one game i tested it, i really enjoyed this ball.  I will give a better review after Wednesdays league.  Also since i dont know how to describe drills well, i will take a picture of my ball and post it for one of you experts to tell me what my drill is like

When I get out of my ball cleanly, I am really pleased with it.  I am having major issues w/ my thumb swelling too much still, so I am going to have to open up the thumb hole before next week.

Threw a 233, 200 and a 175.  The 200 game was great until about the 7th frame when my thumb was gettign stuck, so totally unrelated to the ball.  (proshop was closed for a quick fix).

This ball really turns the corner hard.  I would encourage anyone to get this ball who has an accurate shot.  If you plan on missing your mark by a few boards each throw, you are going to have a nightmare with this ball.  It is not forgiving, but it just destroys pins.

I hate it when the thumb issues happen.  Nothing more frustrating...

Anyway you guys are making me want one of these but I think with the stuff I play on I would be better off with a regular Shift.

About 2 1/2 mos. ago I punctured the top of my thumb joint w/a framing gun nail & scar tissue built up & is still tender.  I found that Robbie Revs Sure Release Skin Protector helps tremendously. (2 or $3.00) &/or baby powder on the left side (R.Hand) of the thumb helps also, but you have to be careful not to use too much & have to do it b4 each frame.  I also got my thumb hole fixed, but the thumb still swells naturaly from use & if you are drinking while bowling. Just a tip.
