Title: Two Best House Shot Killers
Post by: 2handedrook12 on June 27, 2018, 12:58:02 PM
For testing purposes, what are the two best current (or recently discontinued  i.e. No Rules Pearl, Wreck Em, Dare Devil Trick, etc.) house shot balls from Storm/Roto in which one is more so for more oil and the other for less?

Hy-Road and Hy-Road Pearl.  Honestly going to get many different answers but that is mine.

Towards the end of fall/winter/spring season, I was using the Hyper Cell Fused and Hustle INK as a 1-2 combo for house shots.

If it's a *true* THS, stand left, unlimited recovery to the right, 5-8 boards of hold when you miss left then I would throw Soniq/INK for the higher rev guy, Idol/Hyroad for the lower rev guy.

Right handed tweeners, just give up, you'll be shooting 4 pins, 10 pins, and 2 pins for every minor mistake at your release :D

Best ball all depends on your style.  A ball that opens the lane up the most isn't necessarily the highest scoring option.  Probably a dozen or more balls that will match up with anyone as well as another.

Remember the biggest influence on ball reaction is not the surface or core, but your release.

Literally any ball manufactured by any company drilled has the potential to be a house shot killer on the correct surface/pattern for the right bowler.

Understood and expected.

You throw the Hy-Road when there is a good amount of volume?

Thank you for the true educational answer. I was more so looking to engage with some users and develop some community feedback on what they happen to throw given the circumstances. I am not looking to make a decision based on anyone elses answers. More of a popularity check.

For your more typical easy house shot my vote would be for a Son!Q and Wreck-Em combo. Could replace the latter with an INK if you think the Wreck-Em is too strong.

Tropical Breeze for resin, Pitch Black if you have enough hand LoL

TL;DR yes.  Sorry had long meandering post wanted to clean up.  I mostly play straight up the boards so I don't need the ball to cover a lot of boards.  In my first shift doubles league it was the only ball I used all three games most of the season.

Why'd go and have to bring reality into this picture? We were just talking balls. (:) )

Sigh ... You are so right. (no smiley face)

For me, depending on house shot volumes differing from different house oilings.

Torrent or Hyroad Nano after lane shined.(medium to medium heavy)
*Side note, NRG coverstocks really kick in once they are lane shined.

IQ Tour Solid or Hyroad (Medium to Medium Light)

Hyroad Pearl or Pitch Black (For anything below Medium Light)

 :) Hope this helps.

I’ve got 3 balls in my bag that I can throw every game with.

I can go outside 5 where the oil isn’t with my hyroad live (overseas version of OG HYroad).  Or I can slide in to around 8-10 in the oil and throw my no rules pearl or dare devil trick. It just depends who I’m bowling against and where they aren’t bowling.

Hyper Cell Fused  --- Son!q are the 2 I have been using the most so far. I just had a Winner (pearl) drilled up. This ball may replace one of the other 2, just to early to say. But what I can say is the Winner may just have the correct name after all.
