Virtual and Hy-Road early returns
« on: November 12, 2008, 12:03:07 AM »
I had a chance to get some holes in both my Virtual Gravity shift and Hy-Road yesterday.

I drilled the Virtual pin 5 1/4" from my pap at a 50* angle and 30* VAL angle. The pin ended up directly on my center line about 1" above my fingers. I went ahead and put a weight hole on my PAP of 7/8", 3" deep. I left it box surface. I layed this out very similar to an Attitude Shift that I drilled last fall that was my heavier-angular reaction in my arsenal. Some of the longer patterns with the OB to the right force me in and I need the recovery to get inside of 20 and strike regularly.

All I can say is WOW!. This ball was hard to get down the lane at first on our fresh house shot starting where I normally "fish". I had to get very far left and "wheel" it. I looked like one of the kids out there "grippin and rippin". I can not wait to get this on some longer or higher volume patterns. For comparision, I was also throwing my Dimension. The Dimension was not wheeling off the spot like the Virtual. I would say this is due to the dynamics of the Virtual core. The Virtual reminds me a lot of my Attitude shift out of the box.

I drilled my Hy-Road 4 1/2" from PAP, 60* PAP angle and 40* VAL angle. I also put the weight hole on my PAP. I get a stronger, rollier type of reaction with PAP holes. My intention is to have the Hy-Road be more of a benchmark ball. I left the surface box as I just wanted to throw it some first to see what it is about before I play. I also brought out my Rapid Fire to compare.

I started in my normal spot on the fresh at this center. I would tweak some right or left to see what I could get away with and how this ball reacted closer to the oil line. With the box shine, I got some wiggle if I went to far right "down the lane". If I fed it right early, I got smooth recovery and crisp hit. What jumped out at me, was the way it held if I got it inside of my target. Granted this is more a product of easier lane conditions, but I can see where some of the straighter players are going to like these on house conditions. My Rapid was more angular off the spot (as expected) and gave me a good tweak to play with when I started to finally leave 4's on "tugged" shots.

I will post reviews on both when I have more of a chance to throw them around on some tougher shots and different surfaces.
