Dry lanes ball

I was thinking about something like a tropical, but then heard that with the pancake block, it has carry issues. So, I was wondering if that is true, or if there was a different ball that I should get. Thanks.

ANY ball having carry issues is most likely being thrown on the wrong pattern or wrong line.

 A balls carry power is based on where and when it reacts to the oil pattern, and you can make a plastic ball strike on the right condition.

 If you want to stay withing the STORM line, a tropical is going to be about all you have for drier conditions as the new FAST has a decent core and R2S cover which makes it more than strong enough for medium conditions and maybe too strong for truly dry conditions.

 The tropical has a pancake allright, but also has an inner piece that creates diferential, which allows the ball to flare and finish better than a ball with just a pancake.

You may want to look at the Storm Natural coming out in June.  It has a urethane cover with the Turbine core.

if your not somebody that HAS to have storm look into a link. Best ball i own i thought my rayzr was awesome till i got a link and ill throw the link on about 80% of what i encounter (very dry houses around here)

 900GLOBAL makes the LINK

  With the natural being NON-REACTIVE ( old school regular urethan ), it will have the tendency to be smooth and not nearly as "flippy" on the dry backends.

  Many people prefer to use regular urethane on shots considered to be "dry" by todays standards because of the lower surface friction and their tendency to smooth out the wet/dry transitions on the lane.  My guess is, if you could get a good polished finish on the Natural, it would PROBABLY hook less than a Tropical. I have a friend who says his Tropical is actually pretty strong.

FYI
The Tropical Storm does NOT have a pancake core.
The Straight Flush has a pancake core.
The Razyr has a pancake core.
The Tornado Warning has a pancake core.
The new Scout has a pancake core.

The Tropical Storm does NOT have a simple pancake core.
The Power Groove does NOT have a pancake core.

The Link or the Neptune are dry lanes balls IF AND ONLY IF
A) you have very high ball speed, or
B) you drill them with 5.5" - 6" pin-to-PAP pin locations.

Otherwise, they are medium-light to medium oil balls. I guarantee that.

if your wanting a storm ball for dry lanes wait until the storm natural comes out. it is urathane so it will do fine on dry lanes

    Alright, sounds like i should wait for the natural. What is the difference between a regular hook ball and a urethane ball?

    Another option would be to find one of Storm's older medium oil balls...they would be good for dry lanes.  Balls like a Too Hot, Lightning Flash, etc.  Speaking of I know where there is a 15lb NIB Too Hot.
