I have a virtual energy drilled pin down. I like the roll i get with it but it hits like crap, im just wondering if anyone has taken the polish off this ball, and what kind of reaction it might have without it?

I too have a pin down VE but it is money! It's like any ball, it handles changes to the cover fine. Don't use more surface than needed for what you're playing on. Good luck.

adding some surface to the ball will only amplify your problem, it would get the ball to roll even earlier and lose the energy earlier thus the reason why the ball doesnt hit as hard as you want... try polishing it, it will go a little longer down the lane (not much) but it will have more energy into the pocket

You can't say that without watching him bowl to see why he states it's hitting like crap. It is possible that the ball is skidding too far down-lane or isn't reacting in carry-down...both of which sanding could help.

Well Cobberz has not posted what conditions he's bowling on. I don't want to speak for them, but I believe they are assuming he's bowling on a THS or some version of it & the lanes are more than likely medium light to light oil. I know we haven't seen anything above medium light in our house to start league practice let alone games. Virtual Energy is a strong ball. So their answers would fit based on those conditions. Just my 2 cents.

i would consider it a medium shot, i do not have to move much if at all over the period of three games, but i have yet to throw the VE for more than a few balls, because i know i have a better look with something else in my bag. I'm going to work with it today when i go practicing, and ill post how it goes.

I'm curious to know what you get a better look with over the ball of 2009 according to bowlers journal. The ball is a hybrid and generally for medium to heavier condition. Without exactly seeing the ball roll I can only advise you to polish it more or going to a higher grit finish on it. I'm not a fan of early rolling layouts and don't see why someone would put one on a VE. If it's not hitting for you or carrying well it's expending it's energy too quickly and you need polish.

That ball hits nasty in my personal experience.

pretty much everything i have in my bag works better, hence why i haven't really thrown my virtual energy much. I practiced with it the other day and worked with it, but between my black widow, and virtual gravity, i need nothing else during league.

I have my VE drilled pin up and the ball is money when I bowl at a center that puts out a medium to med heavy shot. Hits hard and really mixes the pins. Would agree with the more polish and for my game I would not put a pin down drilling.

i agree with you mark...pin down doesnt work for me at all...pin over is so money for me...idk why. never had any luck pin down

I have a VE that I was going through alot of surface changes with. I found for me this VE performed at its best at 2000 with polish, on either a fresh medium-heavy shot or a heavy shot that is broken down pretty bad.

The word is that Buddies Pro Shop is selling this ball for $129 plus $18 to be drilled......According to fishbowl.......

That's a great deal....

Maybe Hundreds and hundreds of pro shops will see this and think twice about re-ordering them from Storm....
