Virtual Gravity
« on: October 21, 2008, 02:13:08 AM »

Hi all..

Anybody in the know, who can confirm if this is an Overseas or a Worldwide release?
I know it says Overseas on www.123bowl.com but they're "only" right 99,999% of the time...
I've heard both versions now.. And just want to be sure.. They're promoting it here in Europe right now.. And we "normally" don't get the balls made for the Asian market..

Thanks

Satan: WOW. Can see why Ernest advised me to go with a weaker pin when I was looking for suggestions.

I got my test ball drilled last night in time to bowl Sport League with it.  I had my Virtual 6 and 3 deeper than my Dimension on Highway to Hell.  We were dying laughing at how much recovery this ball had.  I even tried to throw it into the hang and it still rolled off of it.  Until I get some lane shine on it with the 4000 finish I doubt very seriously with my rev rate that I'll have enough applications for this ball, at least in box finish.  I thought the Dimension made an assertive move off friction, this one is a step beyond yet.  Speed and rev dominant styles will LOVE this ball.

Steve,

How much more ball is this compared to a polished Rapid Fire Solid?  I know the factory polish will give the RFS a LOT more length than the VG.  I've given a thought or two to this new pill and was hoping for some feedback.  Thanks!

230: Not even an apples-to-apples comparison - R2S vs. X in it's 3rd generation.  What I can tell you is on the same pair of lanes "Benal" was 8 and 4 right of me with his Rapid Fire Solid going parallel with the lane while I had Lois going around it.

This is by far the most assertive cover on this new formulation (CELL, Gravity, Dimension, CELL Pearl, Virtual) I've seen.  Just talked to Sand and I'm going to drill a 5-1/2 or 5-3/4 60* to 75* layout for the other one.

As witness to Satan's evil ball last
nite... It wasn't even fair...
It would be like Shaq playing in
high school again!! I've never saw
a solid cover ball move like that

I had a chance to throw this ball in a tournament this weekend and remain impressed with how assertive it is rolling out of the oil.  I'm going to drill another tonight in a 6" X 75* layout to match up to the 5-1/4" x 45* layout existing ball.

If there was a knock for me this weekend in matching up it was that the combination of cover, core, my ball speed and rev rate made me open up the front of the lane too much to give me the optimum angle of attack.  Don't get me wrong I was +115 for 3 with it sitting in 5th, I just felt I left a few pins on the deck because my angles didn't match up the best.

I don't think my game has any WOW factor to it, but all day I heard: "what the h*ll is that?" and "when is that coming out?".  In fact had two guys ask if they could throw it during the tournament if I wasn't using it during match-play.

I've got more back up on this. Stu Williams (European Tour regular, former World Ranking Masters champion) bowled 300 with it out of the box tonight and claimed it was way more angular than any other of Storm's solid offerings. I have a few Dimensions I love and haven't gotten on well with previous Shifts so didn't take the Virtual, but now I think I might have to get one before the next Euro tour stop!

Any more info/reviews would be appreciated!
