Hot Rod Pro Stock Pearl
« on: February 06, 2011, 08:42:46 PM »
After throwing this piece again for first time in a long time and although it is six years old, it still is one of the best low-priced balls I ever purchased, along with the solid version.

Now to the point, what would be a comparable piece today considering that the PSP has been out of circulation for quite some time? Not that I need something right away, it would be nice to have something set aside in case something does go wrong (which seems to happen to me more often than not).

I have the original Hot Rod Pearl and its cover is slightly weaker than the HRPSP with a very similar core (almost identical specs). MT HRP is stronger than SlingShot and Avalanche Pearl and much weaker then my Tropical Heat. My Hammer Red/Purple Backlash is 3-5 boards stronger than my HRP. I'd suspect that the your HRPSP is close to this Backlash in oil handling and overall hook and breakpoint shape. Its core has very similar specs (RG ~ 2.55, Diff = .031")

Another ball that might be close but which I don't have but have seen my friend throw a lot is the Track 300C. I think that could also be fairly close to your HRPSP.

Charles,

Thanks for the response, from looking at specs I'm leaning towards the Backlash.....although after doing some research that the Sharp Noize looks to be close too.
