Nano Pearl vs. Gravity Shift :-D
« on: September 19, 2011, 02:36:59 AM »
Dear Bowlers of Earth,

I have been waiting to ask this question for years...literally.  Is the Nano Pearl real similar to the Gravity Shift?

I'll be honest - I'm buying one of these, possibly a thousand. So what should I expect?

Thank in advance!

It would be as similar as the Nano solid is to the Virtual Gravity.

For what it's worth, I haven't tried the Nano Pearl yet (though it sure looks interesting!), but the Marvel Pearl I won from Storm a couple months ago has been pretty much the only ball I've thrown so far this winter season because it reminds me so much of what my Gravity Shift was like when it had fresher coverstock before I bowled with it heavily for multiple seasons. Since it's R2X pearl like the Gravity Shift, that isn't surprising. But the overall ball motion is pretty similar, just ever so slightly smoother at the breakpoint, and a more continuous arcing motion through the pins. (The Gravity Shift tended to hook out a little sooner) And that's fine for me since that's the kind of ball motion I like to see on a house shot.

+1 on that Dan.

The Marvel Pearl is like an Agent meets Gravity Shift. Best of both worlds!

Steve,

I have to agree with Tommy on this. The Nano Pearl is going to be earlier and stronger than the Gravity Shift. Maybe not by a tremendous amount, but by a significant amount.  New coverstock is really strong.

From what I've seen so far (and there are a boat load of people LUVIN' the crap out of the Nano), I think it is a lot more versatile than the Virtual Gravity is/was and that's saying a LOT.

Good feedback guys, I really appreciate it!

I'm very hesitant on the Marvel Pearl because I have rarely matched up well with symmetric bowling balls.  If I can find a used one at some point, I'm gonna go with it.  But new I'm too scared, haha.

This is an interesting statement. Symetrical balls tend to be the most "user friendly".

Surprised nobody has asked how the Nano pearl compares to Anarchy.  I had VG, VE, Anarchy, and Nano solid.  VE was supposed to be pearl VG, but I never got the look I expected.  Anarchy was rolly for a pearl, plus smooth and strong.  So I will ask, how does nano pearl compare to Anarchy.

The VE was hybrid. The pearl version of the VG was the Gravity Shift.

i dont think the nano pearl will be as jumpy as the ve but i think i will be very close with overall hook, break point shape and everything. from what i have heard form a few storm staff and a few storm reps.  the nano pearl will be a very very difficult ball to beat. and very useful on multiple shots. i have a gravity shift and it was a decent ball. but when you compare it to the newer technology i really believe this ball will be hard to beat. but i dont know. im not a professional.

Actually I believe the shells on the VG and the Gravity Shift were more different than just pearl vs solid.  I know they shared the same core.  Still wondering about the Anarchy compared to the pearl nano.

The video from videoballreviews compares the Nano Pearl to the Anarchy.  It would seem the Nano pearl is just a touch stronger overall, and a bit more backend than the Anarchy.  Britton or TJ would probably know better as they have thrown both balls.

In my hand, both balls were easy to shoot through the heads and then it is just fun to watch it come back from where ever I put it. If you have a Nano, the Nano Pearl will give you a great plan B for when the Nano just does not have the oil needed to get down the lane.

Thanks for all the replies, guys!  Due to budget constraints, I've had to hold off on getting one.  Hopefully soon though :)
