Storm's deepest ball
« on: November 17, 2006, 03:06:27 AM »
I have a special agent, agent, and domination and I'm looking to add one more ball to play extra deep with deep with and carry the 10.  I'm thinking something from the fire line.  Does the spit fire or the fired up have the sharpest backend to make it back from the corner?

The domination is Storm's sharpest breaking ball...

...but from the Fire line it would have to be the Fired Up.

The domination doesn't have a very sharp breakpoint like the site claims.  Everyone I talk to that has one also say the same thing.  It's a great ball, just not sharp on the backend.

Not to hi jack this thread, but my Domination has as much as a sharp break point as what I had with my Cobalt Bomb, which was SHARP.

Mine picks up strong in the midlane and strong on the back.  Great ball, just not skid/flip.  I think the two can be confused when a ball covers a lot of boards.

Why do U need something "sharp" to play deep and carry the 10 pin?

I would go with a ball that clears the front, just guessing that's why U're deep, picks up a roll in the midlane, but still retains some "pop" and hit thru carrydown..

I would go with a Fired Up.. Drill it Pin down, and CG somewhere between 45*-75* depending on how much axis rotation U can put on it.. And i would place the Pin at around 5' from Ur PAP.. An X-hole might be needed, but place it depending on reaction..
I like this layout for playing inside if the heads are drying or dried up and if there has formed some carrydown.. I've found use for either a flare reducing hole and flare increasing hole for different conditions and lane surfaces.. So be sure to drill the X-hole for the conditions U encounter..

Reason for U not being able to carry the 10 pin could probably be because Ur ball is rolling too early or more likely too late.. But that's just what i'm gathering from what U're describing..

Just my 2 cents..

When I have to move deep, and when I start leaving 10 pins, I use my Spit Fire.  That is the most angular ball I have.  I also used the same drilling that Pat Patterson used.  He has a nice picture available if you looked at his profile.....

I can play as deep as I want, and still carry with this ball....keep in going to the oil, and you will be fine...

Long Roller,

I would have to agree with jablosa, the Spitfire should be what you are looking for.  Go to the Storm website and watch the video.  That ball has as much angle as you may need.  My driller throws one and absolutely loves his.

My Fired Up snapped harder than any other ball I owned... EVER!!!

I drilled PIN above bridge with CG near center of hand under ring finger.

Yeah, I love my SpitFire and I can claim it is pretty angular.
