Rapid Fire Pearl vs Rapid Fire Solid
« on: July 03, 2008, 02:15:40 AM »
I have been looking at an Ebonite Playmaker and then have decided to look instead at Storm also as I haven't had a Storm ball for a few years. I am looking at "maybe" a Rapid Fire Pearl and then heard there is also a Rapid Fire Solid that is polished.

Are there 2 Rapid Fires?

If so, what are the differences and conditions for each?

Hey Brick, just knock the polish off it very lightly with a pad and go try that before re-polishing. Only a really light haze to remove the polish, because I agree the box polish is way too shiny.. Good luck.

Quick note on the Rapid Fire Solid....Emailed Victor Marion of Storm and he said to sand to 1000 grit Abralon and knock off the polish off. He said the ball has a pearl additive in it, so even if it doesn’t look like a pearl, it will still react like a pearl.

I used it in league today and the ball sniffed the dry much better and reacted better. Took me a game to get lined up with it and I shot 174 the first game followed by 211 and 235 the next two games for total of 624.

I will try it some more like it is now before making any more coverstock adjustments, if any. Depends how it comtinues to react.

I feel waaaaayyyy better about the ball today than I did yesterday....lol

It sure sounds like tweeking the cover stock was more important than the core numbers.
