What happen to Robert Smith?
« on: September 18, 2007, 07:01:12 AM »
He signed with Elite. Booooooo!
They shouldn't of let him go. I can see they signed Riga Kalfas & David Leverage.

Jeff, do you know why they let Robert go?

Total bummer.  I really liked watching him throw Storm's stuff.  They did get Norm Duke though who I like to watch even more.

I don't know if it is fair to call Elite "crap" but then again I wouldn't know because their balls are too expensive for me to take a chance on.  Those Elite vs. Everyone Else promotions are cute but then I am screwing over my pro shop twice by ordering them online.

But did he leave Storm or did they not renew his contract? Either way I wish him luck.

To those who say Rober Smith is Tour Trials bound based solely on this switch;

At the level of skill of an PBA exempt bowler I think the ball you put in their hands means very little.

When I say this I mean the wad of reason shaped like a sphere itself, and ONLY that.

There alot of things associated with a particular wad of resin that in the end are completely separate.  For instance, there is inscribed somewhere on that wad a makers mark.  It has nothing what-so-ever to do with the physics of your wad of resin, but if you believe that it does, it can have a MASSIVE impact on your game. Another thing that comes with the inscription is the help of that vendor.  Ever the the commercials for Verizon Wireless and their network? Same idea.  For the pro bowler certain wads of resin come with a braintrust which can be very important to their success.  There are many other things but this post is getting long.

You have a perfect example of this in the case of the Track staff of last season.  Two very talented National PBA champions joined the staff after longtime association with other vendors.  One of them couldn't get things together, barely making match play, and the other went on to appear on TV more than anyone else and even won.  The struggling bowler went back to his longtime vendor and immediately began to perform at the his previous level.

So having said that, it's the bowler(some are very independent;WRW, Norm Duke, Wes Malott; others... not so much) not the ball(but very possibly the balls "network").

And it remains to be seen what kind of bowler Robert is.

Hey Dynoless daddy....i am gonna take your money when i get back!![}}

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Voss switched to Elite last year, if if my memory is correct, he did not make the exempt tour, hmm..  Fill me in, incase I am wrong, cause Brian was one of my favorite bowlers.

Voss is no longer exempt; he finished 41st in points, just outside the cut line.  As Billy said, he had some physical injuries that kept him from bowling at his peak.

Yes, he did use Elite last season.  He also used it the year before and won a title.  It's not a quality of equipment issue, and aside from the folks that rag on Elite over their ball designs (or lack thereof) and pricing strategies, I don't think anyone here believes that the equipment isn't just as good as anything else.
