I gave a friend of mine, a lefty, a Storm Trifecta last summer, when he took up bowling once more after a five year layoff. He's now back up in average to 200, almost where he was when he stopped. And last week he threw his second 300 game, with the Trifecta. (His first was with an Ebonite Grey Wolf...about 8 years ago.) In the time he's been bowling again, once a week in league in the summer plus practice sessions, and two leagues this fall and winter, Tuesday and Thursday, he's cleaned his Trifecta TWICE, both times with Track's clean n' dull. He doesn't wipe his bowling ball off after shots either. My question is...out of curiosity, how long will this ball last? How is he getting away with not cleaning his bowling ball? He bowls at Holiday Bowl in Albuquerque, NM, on a typical house medium oil shot. And, there aren't that many lefties in either leg with him either. I'm a bit bemused by his success without cleaning...and worried as he's on my teams both nights! But I can't really make a good argument for cleaning as...he's being really successful at the moment. Help! :-)

The X-Factor balls to me are built for tough. They in my opinion are one of the longest lasting coverstocks still out today. Cleaning it twice a week may work, but he will slowly loose the ball reaction he is getting now.

He didn't say "twice a week"...he said TWICE...TOTAL.  The Trifecta is the same cover as the Vertigo except with particles.  Lots of people complained of their Vertigos "dying" after a short time...especially without cleaning them.  How long will his Trifecta last???  Who knows.  But if its still working for him, which obviously it is since he shot a 300 recently and is averaging 200, he shouldn't worry about it.  Besides, if he does start losing reaction, he can have it "deep cleaned" or resurfaced, or both, and it will be almost like brand new again.
