Which ball?
« on: April 22, 2006, 06:40:26 PM »
With in a month my 3 and 5 games average were 115 to 130 with highest score at 197 with a vintage, mis-drilled Manhattan Rubber which is usually unpredicable and soaks up the oil making it hard to hook properly.

I have selected 3 balls from storm, TriFecta (104 dollars plus drill at local shop) Pyro and Paradigm (order online). Unless there is other brand other than storm that you could refer to also.

Thanks

Hmm depends on your bowling conditions.  stormbowling.com has a pretty good match making system that will help u out with your first ball, and almost every ball has a chart that shows the balls path depending on what type of bowler you are.  So try that maybe?

Otherwise, of the 3 balls u selected, they're all for medium to meditum-heavy lanes.  They're all great balls and it seems that you're still learning like me.  As being your first REAL performance ball, id say just pick one u think looks best then find out what you need from there since your current ball cant really help you guage that.  Nice price on that TriFecta though =)

well honestly if i were you DO NOT GET A MASTER/PARADIGM LINE BALLL

seriously though you will be overmatched with a ball that aggressive and you would be better off looking at the Flash, or Hot Line by storm or maybe a weakly drilled fired up, i'm just trying to look out for you since so many people i know get the new high end ball and haven't got the skll or ability to use it yet and end up wasting all of the money just to have to plug and redrill or sell it after like 5 games use.

Personally I would say none of the balls you mentioned would be a good choice as a replacement.

Here's a thought... if you are going from an old rubber ball to a newer reactive ball why not find a smooth reacting ball rather than a strong skid/snap ball?  I would look at a medium strength dull reactive as my transition to newer equipment.  The two Storm balls that come to mind are the Diablo and the Dark Thunder.  Both will give you a predictable reaction and more hook than the rubber ball.  Diablo will give you a little more backend while the Dark Thunder will give you more overall hook throughout the lanes.  You can't go wrong with either.

Good luck either way.

yea, my advice was for if u really wanted only those balls.  IMHO, don't get a high end ball unless you've tried one and know you can control it.

I'd agree with something out of the Hot or Flash lines as well.  The highest end ball you should get with a Storm logo would be a Diablo.

I'd also look at the mid-range or entry stuff coming from Roto-Grip (which come from the Storm plant).  The highest ball from them you should look at would be the RS-1, but either the Saturn or the Mercury might be very nice depending on your game.  And they won't hurt your wallet either.

Ok, Diablo, Pyro, Super Sport are my Storm choices, roto grip choices are Mecury and RS-1. Cannot find Dark Thunder, is it a disconituned model. Im still open to suggestion. Might make a purchase after the 1st

Super Sport would be my suggestion.  That way you can easily adjust the coverstock to your liking and the ball wont be overly reactive for you.

I agree, the Super Sport would be a great ball for a beginner just getting into the reactive ball scene.

If you want Storm, go Diablo
If you want Ebonite, go Ice ( blue)
If you want Hammer, go Doom

Those are just my opinion, a place to start for you.

a super sport can be very aggressive, its got the reactor solid cover on it, same found on a much more aggressive core in the Diablo, i agree this most likely would be your best bet and you could also redrill it later on for more aggression, its win win and a pretty cheap ball too
