xfactor ace out of control?
« on: July 11, 2007, 03:32:46 AM »
I'm a casual bowler and i've had my ace for probably 6-8 months. 40-50 games on it. when i first got it drilled, it would roll nice and long and react nicely down the line. Now the past few times i've gone and thrown it, It'll make it down the lane just fine but at the end (forgive my lack of termonology) its snapping and will roll out the left side of the lane. This ball is hooking out of control. What could this be from. OOB surface.

dry backends on the lane? you said the ball was oob, i guess that means you keep it clean and polished. Polish makes the bowling ball store its energy for the friction, so if the backends are drier than normal, you would see in increase in backend hook.

Probably the center is skimping on oil for the summer.  Enough to keep it from burning up, but short enough that there's backend for days.

This is definitely a possibility.  I have been praying to the oil gods for a month now and nothing yet.

Uh, I am murmuring mantras about this, too. I hate summer saeson for the sparse and short oil... my old Eraser Particle Pearl (OOB) is the strongest piece I can effectively use when my club house is fresh. Anything else moves Brooklyn or worse, or I'd have to break the sound barrier with the equipment to get it into the pocket.

I really get to love my Slate Blue Gargoyle...

OIL! Give us OIL!!!

You're praying for oil, I'm praying for a little friction!!  This PBA Experience league is starting beat up on me pretty good now that we'ved moved to heavier, longer oil patterns.  I cannot figure out the 41 foot flood Scorpion pattern to save my life.  I bowled the worst series I've bowled in at least 5 years yesterday in practice--only had a 430 for three games.  I keep having to roll the ball slower and slower to get it to react on the back end at all, but I have NO accuracy when I try to roll it slow.

I WISH there would be some tough pattern league around here in summer time. But it is Desert Wars, after 4-5 games at best,... and the ugly thing about it is that this forces (at least) me to battle the balls down the lane, overpower them or play such deep angles that it becomes a lottery. I'd rather appreciate the tough shot, when you can either rely on accuracy (not my strength, though ) or at least be sure that the lane will hold up for a while.
