Title: XXX extreme
Post by: David Lee Yskes on October 01, 2004, 08:47:13 AM
OK i got this ball two weeks ago, and the only reason i bought it was because the proshop i goto had it for a deal i couldnt pass up, 170$ drilled.

It had a 3.5 in pin, 3oz of top, and i had it drilled with the storm #3 drilling for length and mild backend.  well, the ball does what it says but checks up early.  but it does hit like a truck.

now i am wondering if anyone has polished the ball up a bit?  i had my proshop buddy polish it up with some Go-long polish.  And this was last nite, 9-30-01.

I know this ball needs alot of oil, and any type of dry and this ball goes left.

OH MY GOD IT'S THE APOCALYPSE, IT'S 2001 AGAIN!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Well, if it's checking up early, the polish will help.  I don't think anything bad is going to happen, unless it was overshined.

David, message buddy. It is his favorite ball. He drills 30-40 balls a year and never keeps one very long. However, he has had the Extreme ever since it came out and it still remains his favorite ball. I believe he polishes his all of the time with Storm Step 2 polish, but I won't swear to it.

I agree, and I dont think thats possible. Though it may be uncontrollable. I threw this ball with the pin under ring, and it still had MASSIVE backend, and that was box condition, let alone polished, my god. That thing will turn around and come back to you!

I have two of them and they are both polished.

One is 4 1/2 by 4 1/2, RAD Strong, with hole down at 5". shined with reactashine and the other is a 5 1/2 by 5", RAD strong, hole down and they both get through the fronts much easier than the box surface.

It has a solid resin cover, Accu-Tread by name. There should be no problem in polishing it; I have done it many times. The only caution I'd suggest is to polish it lightly in steps until you get to where you like the reaction. This may seem tedious, but it's better not to go past the point where you need it. DOn't forget to test it on a condition VERY similar to one onwhich you will use it. You probably only need slightly more length than it has now. I'd even go so far as to suggest you do it by hand with a Storm polish and a  couple of clean terry cloth towels. (FYI most polishes will wash out in the washing machine. SO they can be used over and over.)

Charlest is correct saying what he does here as I have the Extreme and know. I don't polish mine hardly any because I have the Depth Charge so I use the Extreme when the oil starts getting a bit heavy for the Depth Charge and/or there is carry down. If the Extreme was the only ball I had, I would definitely polish it for the conditions that I bowl on most of the time. Match the ball polished or not polished to the conditions you bowl on.....You didn't go wrong in buying the Extreme. It is an excellent all round ball.

OPPS sorry about the 9-30-01 lol,,,,,   being last nite,,,,

But polishing up the ball did make a world of difference, the ball went several more feet down the lane before making the turn, yet still rips the pocket.  and i am sure i can still use this ball on a heavy oil shot too.

I order'd a BarbWire and plan on having it drilled the same, as this ball so i can use it when the lanes are really fried.
