Arsenal review / upgrade
« on: November 10, 2021, 07:55:37 AM »
My current arsenal consists of the 900-Realty, RG Halo Pearl, RG Rubicon UC 2 and RG Hustle Ink.    Game plan is to replace my RG Halo Pearl.

The bag appears to be unbalanced with 3 - asyms, but balanced with two solids/two pearls.    Looking for something to slot in behind the Reality and above the UC2, first thoughts was to add the Phaze II or the Zen.   Some opinions I have received were the UC2 and Zen were too close and in a small grouping may overlap.   I have looked at some of the new releases coming out but again seem to be mostly asyms.

Any thoughts, thanks.

If it were me; I would do something like a Hyped Hybrid.  You have a huge gap between the asyms and the Hustle Ink.  Something like a mid-performance hybrid would do the trick.  While you do have the UC-2, it would be a step down from the Reality and as you mentioned, an asymmetric.  The Hyped would give you something that still has some strength and give you that benchmark type reaction you dont really have.  I would not think the Ink would be the benchmark as it is the weakest piece you listed.  So since you have a good balance of solids and pearls; then why not a hybrid that bridges the gap from the Ink to the higher Asyms?  Something else to think about.

If you're set on filling the gap between the Reality and UC2 then the most likely options are probably an original Rubicon, RST X-1, or Dark Code. But that does seem like a pretty unbalanced bag with three big asymmetrical balls and a Hustle Ink.

If it were me I would look for something somewhat below the UC2. The Phaze II and Zen are solid options. I wouldn't be too concerned with overlap from the Zen and UC2. Their overall strength might be kind of close but their ball motion shapes are not.

The idea of the Phaze II would appeal to me more though. Seems like that would be a good idea for being the daily driver while having clear options for more strength (Reality), more backend (UC2), or stepping down (Hustle INK) available. You could take a look at the Honey Badger Intensity for this slot too if a little more shape is needed.

Going for something stronger than the Phaze II but weaker than the Reality with the Axiom, Zen Master, or upcoming IDOL Helios would work too. Although in that case I'm not sure you wouldn't just be able to use the Reality instead for most situations.
