Title: Animal
Post by: admin on December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM
Animal

The Animal is the most technologically advanced ball produced in the history of Track. The Morpheus 2.0 core uses six pieces of different densities to achieve a balance of control of the breakpoint and overall hook ability. The addition of a wing attachment on the opposing side of the rev plate increases the Animal's mid-lane control while the aggressive Mega Fang coverstock provides its lane gripping ability. There is so much power inside the Animal that we had to use our Clean N Sheen compound to tame this wild beast. Put an Animal in your hand and be an Animal on the lane.

We got 4 of these in today and they didn't last an hour. Didn't get to see everyone throw it, but we did watch one of our better customers throw it. We drilled it with the pin over the ring, cg kicked out about 2 inches and the mass bias almost on his PAP. We put him on freshly oiled house shot, synthetic lanes. The ball was an ANIMAL. he had from 15 to the gutter without exaggeration, he threw 25 balls, 20 were strikes. No 10 pins, a couple of 4's. This ball got through very nice and made a great turn on the end. Excellent recovery from anywhere. Bill hit like a truck, light and flush shots.

Now the bad part, or not so bad because the ball wasn't really designed for the bad part. Watching the ball in the late shift of the the night, this ball did absolutely nothing. Continued to go through the nose. It appeared that the move in didnt work either, ball went a little to far, and than the move back to the right went through the nose. He had no shot in the second shift of league with this ball.

However, this ball wasn't made for when the lanes break down, it was made for heavy oil and it definitely looks like it is a keeper for heavy oil.

Visit our site, the balls are in stock at a very, very reasonable price.

got this ball a week an half ago. i am not great on the spec. pin above ring finger. was able to play up the 10th board with it. haven't been able to do that in a while. hits the pocket like an animal. if you get this in the dry area too early you might just be taking out the 7 pin only. since i got it i have been hitting the 600's with it on a consistant basis. love this ball. i will be gettint the havoc soon.

Got this ball last friday.  Don't really know much about the actual drill specs, but had it drilled to get through the heads and with a sharp backend.  Keep this ball in the oil and it goes long, snaps hard, and carries the rack.  Found that it carries everything high, but sometimes leaves misc. pins with a light hit.  Takes this ball to the dry and if you probably will fight the pocket all night.  Hard to control without suffient oil.  The shots there in the medium the medium/dry, but you got to pick-up the speed aand be prepared to make lots of spares.  If you got oil this ball tons of fun to throw.  By the way I guess I'm a 3/4 roller with medium to medium/high revs, and thow around 12mph on avg.

I just picked up the "Animal" ball from Hi-Tech Pro Shop in Sterling Heights, Mi., Lance Williams. They always provide great ball guidance and drilling match up.  Sean Klug has been my coach for many years and provides great equipment guidance.  We discussed several balls for the upcoming ABC's and a high-end league that I bowl in.  The competitors were: Animal, Full Throttle, Throttle, Phenom, Vicious Strike, and the sanded Killer Instinct.  Based upon “Bowling this Month” and www.ballreviews.com data we selected the Animal as the ball of choice.

The ball was drilled from a blank @ 15 lbs 4 ozs, 4 ozs top and pin @ 4 inches.   The pin is drilled at the Track position #3 and the Mass Bias at position #1.  Essentially the pin is just right of the ring finger and the Mass Bias is at the thumbhole.

First, I really like the characteristics of this ball. I have only used the ball for one night, 3-games, on a late second shift, with synthetic lanes, with the following results.  Note that I had an approach position in the 35+-board range and a lane target in the 22-board range.  The lanes were providing a recovery bump zone around the 8 board at approximately 45 ft. The ball is somewhat long as designed by Track.   I found that the ball would read the lane condition and not over react.  It would bleed out to the right and had significant recovery to the pocket.  On the pull shot it would slide and still have significant strike potential.  I was really impressed with what the ball would do at the pins.  Great hitting power!  However, you must stay on top of the back-end lane movement.  The ball will read the dry and will recover very aggressively.

I will update this review after a few more league nights and the trails at the ABC’s.

All I can say is WoW. So far so good. Track has created a ball that is as advertised. The first Freak I didnt like, same for the Freak Out and the Mutant. But the Phenom, the Unleased and now the ANIMAL, Damn what a Great set of balls. Its like the actually got better as the line progressed.

As for specs

16lb 2.5in pin
Pin below ring finger, MB in strong position

This ball flat out moves in heavy oil. put it up on the medium stuff. for that u pull out the Havoc!

Have fun, this is only a Game!

Bought the Animal looking for a versatile ball. Drilled it Pin under the bridge, CG swung out about 1" from the grip line(2" Pin) MB near my VAL. Ball reacted as expected with strong midlane read and heavy arc to the pocket. Bowling on synthetic with short oil I had too much ball and had to move way inside. I was then able to bowl on longer pattern and the ball read the lane beautifully whether I was playing straight up and hard or deep inside.

The ball is very smooth through the heads and will want to be played on medium to heavy conditions. Will update this review post weekend tournament.

BOWLED TOURNAMENT - SOME OIL IN THE HEADS BUT FRESH BACK END AND THE ANIMAL WAS TOO MUCH BALL. USED SPARINGLY IN BOX CONDITION WHILE TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT THIS BALL DID BEST. THEN DECIDED TO THROW THE BALL HARD WITH MEDIUM REVS. THIS BALL SKATED TO THE BREAKPOINT AND THEN TURNED TOWARD THE POCKET BLASTED IT - THREW THE LAST 8 IN THE LAST GAME OF LEAGUE LAST WEEK AND WILL TRY THIS STYLE AGAIN THIS WEEK AND SEE IF I NOW KNOW WHAT MAKES THIS BALL TICK

Last update - Tried above again and found we had MORE oil (this is standard in my league) so I went straight up the back at medium speed and stroked the first 8 before an elbow flare tossed one in the gutter. Started game 2 with double-gutter/spare-5 bagger/spare/3 in 10th and first 5 in game 3. What I learned is that this ball is very VERSATILE now that I know how to use it on different lane conditions. Last night the ball did ALL the work and HIT LIKE A TRUCK. This ball hit just as hard with a straight up stroker release down 5 as it did last week with serious speed and revs.

Drilled 2 balls pin above (4" pin out) middle and ring and mass bias at strong position for a lefty and the other ball for a righty (2-3 pin out)is pin below middle and ring, mb at strong position.(both bowler has a 45 deg.
release angle. The ball is a big "DISAPPOINTMENT!!!" Lefty bowler used it it 3 different tournament with good amount of oil in the heads and pines. Played it in all parts of the lane, from 3rd board to 18th board as target. The ball skids good and spins well in the midlane but when it reaches the back end, the ball does not have good power to finish it off. The static weights of the ball is in the average criteria. With all the hype their saying about the ball, i think it is a very big disappointment! This review is coming from three different bowlers with similar descriptions of the movement of the ball.
Compared the ball to my Track Freak Out with almost the same drilling specs, the Freak Out, Phenom Unleashed is very much superior when it comes to finish and reading the lanes. As a proshop operator, i would not recommend again this ball to a customer. (it is just a furry cute animal!)

First.  I do not work for Track and I  do not know anyone
who does.  In fact, I have always rolled Brunswick or
Ebonite balls until the experience below.  And I still
will use my Brunswick and Ebonite equipment.

I had read about the hype of this ball and debated whether
to purchase one.  I was in the market because I am headed
from Nor Cal (San Jose) area to Reno this weekend for
Nationals.  In previous trips to Nationals I could not get
a ball to hook to the pocket with my Danger Zone.  Well I
purchased the Animal last week.  My book averages for the past 3
3years were 215, 212 and 214.  However, this year I moved to
a different house which usually accounts for a 10-15 pin
reduction in average due to the conditions (very oily).
My current avergage at this house is 203.

I roll straight up 6 at about 16-17 mpg with a long roll
and then my ball typically makes a nice hard move into the
pocket. My teammates say that my bowling form is like
Brian Voss (I take this as a compliment).  Enough of the prelim.

Last night I used the ball for the first time.  If anyone
doubts my to be mentioned results feel free to contact me
and I will give you the name and number of my teammates.
First game I started with a solid ten pin (typical for this
house) and spare. Because I had more room in shadow I tried
and "area check" on the first ball.  I went over the 3 board
and believe that the angle to the pocket resulted in leaving
the ten pin (my other ball would not have made it to the pocket
as solid as this ball did).  I then left the 4,6,7,10 (ouch) and
covered the 4 and 6.  I then struck out (yes, 10 in a row) for 264.
The second game I struck throught the 5th frame (15 in a row
but no 300...lol) for 279.  By the last game the oil had
been pushed down and the lanes were getting dryer.  I should
have changes balls but I wanted to see the reaction of the
Animal on these conditions and I also wanted to get a track
on the ball.  The ball did not react very well.  The back-and
of the roll was kind of dead.  I shot 213 for a 756.  Very nice results
considering this was my initial first 3 games.

More important is the ball had great backend (in heavy oil) which suits
my style.  Is this ball for everyone ?  I would never say
yes.  The big test will come this weekend in Reno.  Of course
the conditions in Nationals is one that I only face a couple
of times each year in certain tournaments.  I will at least have
more confidence and will post my scores upn my return next
Tuesday.

My direct email is kenb@sgi.com

Good and fun bowling to all.............

Got this ball two weeks ago, Spec are as follows,15lb.6oz.,3oz. top,pin out 31\2 inches.Drilled  pin in #3 position mass bias in #2. I am left handed mid rev with 16 to 16.5 mph ball speed. I prefer to play down and in. This is the hardiest hitting ball that I have ever seen. I carry a 207 average in a house with wood lanes and long oil shot{38 to 40 feet of oil}. This ball handles the oil as well as any I've seen & turns very hard.Have bowled three sets with ball & my lowest series has been 726.{others were 756&765}shot 299 3rd game out.I also have a Phenom drilled very similar and there is no compression it the two. Phenom has more backend but will not fight the oil like the Animal. Three other people in our house has purchased this ball and all love it. Only downside to ball is that it does not like carrydown. will go a bit long and hit light. But if you want a ball for heavy oil and clean backends you cannot beat this ball.9 out 10

Track "Animal"

The ball being drilled was 3” pin out with 3.00 oz top weight.

The drilling chosen was pin 5” from PAP and Mb 4 1/4” from PAP (45 degrees); pin is above fingers, 3 1/4" above grip midline. Weight hole past axis pitched away.

Bowler Information:
Track diameter is 10 1/2.
PAP is measured at 5 1/4 over and 3/8" up.
Average ball speed (foul line to head pin) is 17 mph.
Axis rotation is typically 45 degrees
Initial rev rate is typically 300 rpm, "Tweener"

Again, what do you write about a ball that out of the box gives you a average of 240 for the 1st nine games in city tournament with a 2160 all events. Again, a fantasic ball by Del Warren and Bill Monce. Del Warren/Bill Monce continues to impress me with their ball designs. Clean through the fronts strong but smooth on the backs, powerful but with control.

This Mega Fang load particle lightly sanded at 1500 then has a light coat of Track polish/compound on it to help achieve better initial length. The Animial has a big flip block on the top and  weights on both sides of the rev plate. Strong intermediate mass bias makes this ball not only hook on medium to oily lanes but has a strong charging backend reaction giving the bowler the ability to play out or in as this ball has great recovery. TRULY a everybody ball here, all styles will like this ball. Surface adjustments made easy to adjust to styles and lane conditions.

Lane tested on were HPL 9000 at Classic Lanes Greenfield and at Echo Bowl on Brunswick 1st edition panels. Seems I can play anywhere under almost any condition with this ball.

Thanks Bill Monce and Del Warren for allowing me hopefully win City All Events, I know it will work well for you too and thanks for reading my review.

Animal
in box shine not a hooking machine.
In bowling this month gave a 45 hook is right
my center change shot last week more oil
outside and longer the aniaml will not turn
the corner but I might change surface but
if got clean backends it might be a animal
I got 2 balls that do same thing before I got
it. I waiting for a condition or take shine off.
I will be back with more info.

I am going to review 2 animals here.

ANIMAL #1

Kept this one with the surface in box condition, drilled with the pin under the ring finger and MB on my VAL, about 2 1/2 inches below my PAP.

HOOK: This ball hooks. Most of the people that scream about Track's hookmonsters would need to apply a light coat of polish to the factory finish. With that said, it is very versatile with the factory finish. 8.5/10

CONTROLL: This ball is very controllable. Read above...very versatile. I can play straight up the boards if I have to by simply changing my release. It responds very well to the hand changes. 9/10

HIT: This ball hits harder than anything I have thrown in the past. The Mutant held this title for me until I threw this ball. You have no clue where the pins are going to go when this ball smacks them. 10/10

READABILITY: It reads the lanes well, and with the layout I have on this ball it starts reading the mids really quick, but needs to encounter friction before it will move. You will be able to see the oil length easily with this ball because it will start rolling early in the oil, but not make a big move until it hits dry. For most though this ball would not be used to read the lanes at all. 8/10

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Versatile!!!!! I can play all over the lane with this ball. It responds very well to hand position changes. I like this ball so much I wanted another, but drilled and with a surface for oil.

10/10

ANIMAL #2:

I wanted an oil ball, this is it. Drilled 3 3/8 leverage with the MB on my VAL. Early roll. I have not been able to get a bunch of use out of this ball because it is so strong. It does exactly what I wanted it to do. SIT IN MY BAG. This is for only true floods, and I rarely see that.

HOOK: More hook than I have ever seen. I thought the Phenom hooked until I got this ball. 10/10

CONTROLL: Forget about it. This thing is uncontrollable unless there is alot of oil 4/10

HIT: Same as the above Animal. POUNDS the pins. 10/10

READABILITY: NO WAY!!! You would never use this ball for that purpose. 2/10

OVERALL: If you need an oil ball, get an Animal and dull the surface. I took this one down to 800grit scotchbrite (which is not much for me, I usually go 600 grit). If you have trouble in the soup, this is the ball you need.

10/10---because this thing does EXACTLY what I drilled it to do.

Romchip,  Your's is probably drilled way to strong. If you drill one strong and you have any hand it will burn and quit like any strong ball. I have three and the closest pin to axis I have is 5 1/2 inches. I have one 5 1/2 by one inch mass bias, 6" by 4" and 6" by 2 1/2. Each has very different hook characteristics. The first one has good length with strong midlane roll and smooth backend. The second one has about five feet more length with an extra arrow of hook on the back end. The third one has equal length to the second one but has a hook set reaction. I am very impressed with the animal, the only thing I see is most are drilled too strong for people with medium to strong hand. If you don't like it move the pin an inch and a half left and you will see a different ball. I have thrown other people's that were drilled strong and they revved early and had little backend. I hope this helps a little.

This ball has to be the biggest disappointment in bowling history.
I have been bowling for 20 years and this ball is the worst piece
of junk I have ever used. I have tried it polished and dull, it
just don't matter. I have an old Triton Elit that hooks more than this.
Shame on you, Track!

This is a ball that needs some oil.  IF you toss it up the desert, it's going to burn out.  My Animal is great, but I have to keep it in the soup.

I have been bowling for 20+ years. I finally broke down and purchased the much acclaimed Animal...AARRGGGHHHH. This has to be the worst ball I have ever thrown. I would have better luck with a plastic. So, I am back to using my trusty Chaos and any other ball in my collection of 30.

Ball specs: Factory polished (some come polished, some come sheen), 15lb, 3"pin, 3 ounces top weight.

Drilling: I placed the PIN directly under my 2 fingers and tilted the PIN to a 1 o'clock position with the mass bias directly under my vertical axis line. No balance hole, 5/8 positive side was left with 1/8 finger

Reaction: I drilled this ball on purpose to match the hole my Superfreak left when I got rid of it. I wanted a ball that hooked a ton, got through the front, and offered a controlled movement through to the pins. The drilling I chose was perfect for this giving me medium flare with a controlled yet aggressive movement on the backend with no roll out (to date).

This ball is amazing and I if I could, I'd have 3 of them drilled different ways. The ball really gives you alot of options with the aggressive cover and strong core. The core has a lot of flare potential which means you can hook it alot or drill it alot tamer, a very versatile ball indeed dependant on drilling!

I've posted a 802 and a 803 in the last 2 months in my five man teams league, avg 236 for 42 games, with this ball only! It's a one man show and has got me out of trouble many a time already.

I can't recommend this ball enough, I've had some good match ups with balls but honestly this is the best Track ball I have put in my hand since the Superfreak 12 months ago. There are a heap left here and the people I've seen using them are wrapped.

In summary the ball clears the front, and offers a strong yet controlled movement to the pocket with no rollout and on the scale of things, it doesn't get much better than that!

9.9/10 (I haven't thrown a 300 yet)

Just a Note: To Chuck,GaryUSA1, Romchip and others.....this is the review board!! If you want to discuss the ball, take it to the forum section!!

Ball wgt: 15lbs. 4oz
Pin: 3.5" pin-out
Drilling: Label Leverage with a 1" shift off the the centerline
(pin next to ring finger, mb on right side of thunmb)
House: Synthetics, light oil

I used this ball with the factory polish condition. Been playing with it off and on for about two weeks. The ball gets thru the heads amazingly clean. It reads the midlane very well, and has remarkable recovery. It has a very similar angular attack, just like the Phenom. It hits extremely hard on the backend. A change in your release will give you a completely different arc-shape. I normally release the ball with about 45 degree rotation. This ball gave me the usual gentle arc look with a lab/lev drilling...until it hit the dry. Then it became very angular, right at the end. You must be consistent with your speed and keep it up to be effective with this ball. After switching to a fan release, I found this ball extremely responsive to a major swing shot. Did this in the third game of a three game set. Usually, with a ball of this magnitude, aggressive cover and core, I'd have to put the ball away. But this this ball responded like a champ. Still got thru the heads cleanly and finished hard!!
I was able to move inside and literally go coast to coast with this ball. Standing 25, swinging to 5 and back...no problem. Hit 10 strikes in my last game, on a THS, light oil. What I was amazed about was that there was no over/under in this game and no over reaction even when I hit the track area. I'd have to say this is a great addition to the family by Track. And to those who don't like the ball....REDRILL! More than likely you've drilled it wayyy to strong, and it's not finishing. Goood job Track, I love it!

the reaction is much stronger than my icon300

Drilled with pin 3 inches away from the PAP and the MB swung 1 inch past my VAL (needed something that would start to hook as soon as i laid it down to get through all the oil)

Just got this ball drilled yesterday and used it last night.  First game ran the front 5 with a tug for a split, strike, split, off the sheet for a 228 what a waste of 10 strikes huh?  2nd game, went 240, then 246.  This ball hits like a truck....left 1 10 pin all night and that was in the last game.  ball is very predictable throughout the entire lane. all i can say is amazing.

Hey........I'm like Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder.....I don't know all those specs, I just chuck it.  I bought the Animal and took it to my pro shop.  This guy drills for Parker Bohn, so he knows what he's doing.  I just told him to drill for max hook.  I have been using it in my summer league which is oiled to PBA regulation.  My average is 227.  I had been using an old Track Shark from 1991 (yeah I know).  My winter leage average was 190.  This ball makes me do little work.  I chuck it down the first arrow with very few revs and it smacks right into the pocket all by itself.  Those of you who say it's uncontrollable, maybe you are working too hard.  If I can control the ball, most people with more than just a few years of bowling experience should be able to.  I love it.

Ok i had this drilled with the pin under the ring finger, and MB slightly passed VAL, for a little late but strong arc.

Great reaction ! Even greater hit ! Just be near the pocket and pins want to fly on the lanes next to yours !

This ball has a bit of length, just enough to store a little energy. Then in the middle of the lane, it starts fighting the oil.....and it wins !

I use it 3 times so far for a total of 15 games. I have few revs (12-15) and decent speed (17-22). I could play on fresh oil (38 ft, heavy, but with less on the outside), standing on 35, throwing at 8 (breakpoint).

So, predictable strong arc, needs oil, hits with a lot of power.
I believe this , paired with the Animal Untamed, or the Rule, are a very valuable combination to own

I threw his animal(Roy's) cause he let me and since i have a few more revs than him(our thumb and fingers are not all that different),although you would expect a roll out or less power at the hitting point, this ball still carried ...a LOT!!!.i would ask for more than 10 pins over there, just to see how many they fall down in the end!!hehe

Very controlable and predictable. It helps when you have missed your board also.

I POSTED IN HERE EARLY AUGUST ABOUT COMPARING THE ANIMAL TO THE PHENOM. I BOUGHT AN ANIMAL AND BOWLED THE FIRST 3 LEAGUE GAMES ON A TYPICAL OIL PATTERN.
MISSED A 4 PIN IN THE 10TH FRAME OF THE 3RD GAME AND SHOT 694. IM A STOKER WITH A FEW REVS AND LOW TRACK WITH THE BALL DRILLED TO HOOK AND ROLL EARLY.
IT HOOKS VERY CONSISTENT AND GRABS THE BACK END MORE THAN THE PHENOM SO FAR.
THIS BALL IS IS A MUST FOR STROKERS ON OIL.

THANKS TRACK

Weight: 14lbs 0oz
Pin: 2"
Drilled: 4.5x3.5  pin under ring, mass bias in strong position
Surface: Out of the Box
(for bowler stats, check my profile)

Hook:  The Animal is clean through the heads and very aggressive in the midlanes.  The Animal produces a very early and strong midlane roll and gives excellent continuation all throughout the lane and through the pins.  Hooking motion is a very very strong and continuous arc.  In comparison to my Phenom, it revs up a few feet earlier but the MB is 1" closer to my PAP on the Animal than the Phenom.  It's also about 3 boards stronger overall.  Absolutely impressive overall hook! 10/10

Hit: Hits harder than anything I've thrown!  I thought my Phenom hit hard, but since I've gotten the Animal, I haven't seen anyone's ball hit the pins so hard!  The pins just explode and stay low.  Rarely leave 10 pins, and when I do, it's my error...not the ball's.  The only other ball I've seen hit harder is Hammer's Real Deal (but its user has about 510rpm and throws at 20mph).  It hits so hard that I sometimes wonder if the ball is 14lbs or not... 10/10

Control: The Animal is very forgiving when outside of target.  It somehow recovers and still has enough energy to get a strike.  It's not very forgiving when if it's thrown inside of target.  It doesn't really hold its line; instead, it goes through the nose.  It's very controllable.  It never over or under reacts at the breakpoint.  Excellent response to changes in ball speed or hand position at release.  Excellent control (on heavy oil)! 10/10

Overall, excellent heavy oil ball by Track.  Matches up very well to my game.  It outhooks many of the balls I see in my area and it hits the hardest out of all the various balls I see.  Hook is excellent, hit and pin carry is excellent, and it's very easy to control the ball! 10/10

Another excellent ball by Track!

I actually thought I wrote a review for this ball, but I guess I forgot, so here goes.

I think this is the reason Track released the Animal Untamed.  To make up for this medicore ball.

This ball was so hyped.  I remember the website stating the hook was so strong they had to put polish on it.  Well, I guess all the lanes at Track HQ are dry, cause this thing won't hook on med to oily lanes.  And forget throwing this thing with any carrydown.  A big disppointment in my book.

Now, it does have one redeaming factor.  That is, there is a lane condition for this ball when it works the best.  I would call it light oil, with relatively clean backends.  In that case, the ball works fairly well.  Altough, I find there isn't much room for error.  And, it does hit pretty well on those conditions.  But, leave this ball in the bag if there's any oil out there.

I haven't thrown the Animal Untamed yet, but going by previous balls, the Phenom Unleashed is a better all around ball, in the Track line up.

I can't provide the exact drilling for this, as my pro shop guy just drills all my balls agressive, for max length, and max backend reaction.  Most likely started with a 2" to 3" pin.
I throw approx 16Mph, and would say avg revs.

This review may be outdated since the release of the Untamed, but for those of you who are still looking at getting one of these, good luck.  I hope it works better for you, then it did for me.

Your mileage may vary,

Track Animal
Weight: 15#
Pin: 3"
Top Weight: N/A

Objective:
With the big hype going around this ball, I wanted a very heavy hooking ball for oily lanes.

Layout:
Bias at 5 o'clock, weight hole 1.5" below PAP on VAL, Pin 4.5 from PAP under ring finger.

We chose this layout because it seemed to be the most popular favorite for this bowling ball.

I have bowled with this ball in different houses and shots. This ball is great for heavy oil. When the lanes are very dry, this ball is much too aggressive to use. I am very pleased with the Animal on many levels. One "con" about this ball is the finger holes have the tendency to crack easily. In my opinion though, the "pros" outweigh the "cons". The Animal is more aggressive than my Rule and rolls out more but the recovery is excellent.

Conclusion:
Excellent high performance ball, if equipment your using isn't hooking enough, the Animal won't let you down!

I drilled this ball out last week after being interested in it for some time.  One of the reasons I waited was my perception that it was a much stronger hook monster than is actually true.  I set this up with the pin at about 4 inches and kicked the cg right to require a small balance hole in the thumb quadrant.

As I said, it is not a hook monster but that doesn't mean it isn't effective on heavy oil.  The Animal is as clean through the heads as many of my pure resin balls, then makes a smooth controlled move to the pocket, even on snappy conditions.  For me the carry is better when I can throw it a little straighter rather than letting it open up the lane, but that is my preferred style anyway.  It almost reminds me of my older pearl particle zones ( Riot and Shock ).  Very versatile for a particle.  It doesn't roll as heavy and rev as much as my Ultimate, or even my old original Inferno, but it is stonger than the Powerkoil 18 resin balls.  I think it is going to be better than the Phenom Unleashed which was one of the better Track balls I have thrown in the last few years.

animal was an idea of Del through conversations on computer and then going to his seminar. pin 5 inches from pap mb 2 inches from pap pin 1 3/4 above centerline balance hole about 1 1/4 from pap straight left ended up about 1/2 side left in box surface still didn't make the turn quite like i wanted it to took it to burgandy pad and side weight down to about 1/4 and wow this ball will rol on ice now haven't found enough oil anywhere yet where you can't get inside and wheel ths thing but it is controlable enough to take your hand out and roll it up the back up 10 great ball and thanks to DEL.

Picked this one up used, less than 10 games.

Drilled pin under ring, mb 2" right of Thumb.

Kept this one with the surface in box condition.

HOOK: This ball flat out hooks. I figured with the mb kicked out a bit more towards my VAL I would get more of an arc, but this ball still has an angular break to it on the backend. It gets down the lane and then makes a very hard turn.

CONTROLL: For me, it is very controllable. I always know when the ball is going to flip over. It reads the lane well. Especially on heavier oil. You can see the ball reading the mids and then flip on the backend.

HIT: This ball is the hardest hitting ball I have ever thrown. Every time it is near the pocket I feel sorry for the pins because of the loud, crisp smack that this ball makes as it throws pins in every direction. Keeps the pins low and messengers are of the regular when this ball hits.

READABILITY: It reads the lanes well, but will jump off of any dry boards pretty hard. Like I said, it is rather angular of a move for this type of ball. I guess if I want an arc, I needed to kick the mb way out. Either way I am very happy with this ball.

FINAL IMPRESSION:  Hands down the best ball Track has made to date. It reads the lane well, hits the pins hard and responds very well to hand position changes. Solid performer, it gets a perfect 10!!

This ball will hook! After a few games with this ball was easy to control if you h give the ball any hand.

I picked up my Animal last night, before my Sport League at Beverly lanes.

I decided to drill up the Animal, that had a 4 inch pin, 2-3/4 TW.
Drilled the pin over the ring finger, CG stacked under it, MB an inch towards the PAP, next toe the thumb. (which is approx. 5 x 4 for me.)

I had my spans, finger pitches, and thumb pitches changed (which is a whole different topic in itself). I use an oval thumb sleeve, which wasn't inserted at the correct angle. Rather than pulling the oval I fiddled with the thumb hole filing, until i came out of the ball fairly clean. I was expecting a super hooking ball. Thought it would finish about 5-6 boards more than my Slash. I knocked the cover down slightly with a Green SB.

Started the night on lanes 1-2, playing out around the 5-6 board. I was trying to get used to the span and lateral finger pitch changes, and minor thumb pitch changes, and waited for this ball to hook the lane.
I realized pretty quickly, (after I became fairly comfortable with the new drilling) that there was not enough oil outside 10, and the ball was burning up. By then I had shot a 160 game (w/ 3 splts).

The 2nd game, I was targeting about 9-10, pretty much straight down the boards, shot 212 (clean).

We shoot 2 games and move...

Moved to 15-16. Started X, 6-7-10, 2-7...I started migrating inside toward 13-14 board, shot 169, w/pocket 7-10 in the 10th.

Next game, I moved my line to 17, slight swing to about 13. Started X, 7-pin spare, 4 bagger, 7 pin spare, bucket spare, Turkey, 7 pin for 245.

Ball is a great addition, and works really well for the condition it was drilled for.
Ball has surprising length for a particle ball...I even used it for my 7 pin, and all other spares. If I hit up the back it went dead straight.

The 245 game won the Survivor pot...a bonus!

Layout - Pin 4" under ring finger, CG 3 1/2", MB 4 1/2" Weight hole slightly above midline about 1" or so left of PAP. ( All from PAP)

Surface - 320grit

Reaction
This ball for me starts up earlyer then any other ball I have rolled. The reaction is great. It starts up at about 25 feet, and it then starts its arc to the pocket. I have never had a ball move this strong on oil before. It even moved on 45 feet of mop oil. I wish I had two. Rating 10

Readabily
Not the ball to use for readability. Even if the oil is slightly on the light side it will burn up. So dont even try it on mid heavy, mid, and never try on light. This ball is not the ball to read the lanes with. Yet if you can get the speed high enough you can use it on these oil types. Yet I dont think this ball should be used for less then heavy oil.

Versitility
This ball with even the slightest cover change can make a world of change. If you have it with a high grit and then a slight polish and this will be the greatest backend ball you could ever have. If you put a smooth cover this ball it can be the best mid condition ball ever. If you put a heavy grit on this ball and leave it at that you will have the best oil ball ever made. Rating 10

Hit
This ball gives the ideal hit. If you roll it and you hit the pocket and you leave somthing, you probly didnt hit your mark or you did somthing in your release. This ball hits the pins with such raw power and it keeps them lower then anyball I have ever seen. This makes for great carry. You have yet to see a great hit untill you roll with this ball. Rating 10

Overall comments
I dont know if I will ever find a ball to replace this ball. I know for a fact that this ball will be in my bag for years to come. Yet this ball has well over 1000 games on it. It cleans up great with a hot water bath. With that it will be in my back untill the day that it totally cracks. Untill that day this ball will roll on the lanes out of my hand. Best ball ever made is not strong enough to describe how much I love this ball. Rating Infinity.

Overall rating
10 for reaction
10 for readability
10 for versitility
15 for hit

Driiled my Animal Ping below ring, cg stacked, 5" span, no weight hole.
Bowl on mostly light to medium oil, med speed, high revs, from board 30 to board 8-10.
This ball is smooth. It's a lot different entry to the pocket than my Freak Out which is more aggressive, but the entry to the pocket is sweet and it hits like a Mack truck! Nothing negative I can say about this ball, it's done well for me. Still figuring it out though, but it's Track...cannot go wrong with it!

I had it drilled pin under finger with the cg slightly on the right on my palm.box finish.

I have this ball for about 3 to 4 months now.. I use it as my first ball.. as it is very versatile on mid/oily lanes.. however as my speed is fast, I may need to slow the ball down for the oily lanes..though the hit is not as hard as my Columbia300 Bully, but it is more controllable and predictable than it.

Another amazing ball from track! Got it for $30 on ebay and it was money worth spending. Its drilled stacked leverage and has an amazing midlane reaction. It may be too much for the 34 ft ths pattern on the wood lanes I bowl on once a week, but it eats up the longer pattern on the synthetics that I use it on. When others bowling on the longer pattern can't get to the pocket this ball creates much more area for me. The strong roll it gets into creates amazing carry percentage for me. I'm a medium speed player with a low to medium track and quite a bit of axis tilt. I've found that track balls like the animal and the phenom unleashed are very good balls for my style. I give this ball a 9/10.

Please see my 5/28/2004 review for all specs, below.

I had the instincts to revisit this ball. Hadn't used it in many months. Pulled it out on a whim. Recently re-read BTM review on this ball which stated that it was an extremely versatile piece.

Used it on a genuinely lite oil shot, and to my surprise, this ball held up extremely well, even in the tracked areas of the lane, all three games!

Shot my highest set of this year a 706!
Previously, I had been using this ball only on mediums and medium/ heavy patterns. Once again, this is a testimony to the ingenuity over at Track!
Great piece. The carry was ridiculous!
