I recently purchased a Track Freak Out. I bowled 12 games, averaging 258. I have never seen a ball reaction like this. I was amazed how easily it got down the lane, and it acted like there were no pins. 16 lbs 3.5 top weight 3-4 inch pin above ring finger. If you're looking for a ball that can perform like the original Freak but on less oiled lanes, this is your ball. I recommend this ball for medium rev players and for oily lanes.

Freak-Out 15 lbs, 3 0z of top, 3 inch pin

Drilled with my fav drilling 4x4. Cut the particle load in half and tweak the core and coverstock and you get the Freak-Out. If you thought the Freak was a load of ball wait until you get your hands on this bad boy. Perfect compliment to the Freak. The pearl coverstock really gets this ball down the lane and aids in the massive flip you are going to see. Used on a synthetic surface on second shift 37 foot christmas tree pattern. Almost was not fair what this ball did to the pins, total massacre. This ball will change how particle pearls are viewed by the bowling public. Usually when companies say that a pearl ball can handle carrydown I disregard them. This ball ripped thru that nasty carry down, I had to pull out my VooDoo and Messenger b.s.p. to see if carrydown was present and it was the Freak Out made it seem like it wasnt there. Freak and Freak Out the ultimate combo. I thought I would never see a combo like my Money and Ez Money but this combo dwarfs that one by far.

drilled ot today. 4x4. very even arcing ball. you dont get that big flip on the back end. this ball still does make a good move, just doesnt get real jerky!. keep it away from heavy oil. this is the best TRACK ball i've drilled since the CODE RED SE. I'd rate it at 4.5 stars out of 5. A MUST HAVE!!!!

1/23/03
Since drilling this ball in november, i have shot 300, 297, 11 in a row 3 times, and 800 twice. I just ordered a MUTANT today. I say Get the FREAK OUT of here!!!

I purchased the Freak Out this week, drilled 4x3 drill pattern with the mass bias near the pap.  Straight out of the box, rolled it on wood lanes 42 ft, Xmas tree pattern. (16mph high revs) Ball seemed squirrly, so I brought it home & removed factory compound finish, scuffed to 800gm & repolish with finesse.  Returned to same bowling alley & tried again.  This time I opened up the lane & this ball hits like a MACK TRUCK!   This ball doesn't over-react when hitting dry boards.  Out of the gate I bowled 247, 211, 227, 219 & 217.  I would highly recommend this ball to high rev players. since i last posted i have shot 300 268 290 280 832 792 with this ball note this is a conditional ball

Just Drilled the Freak out with a 5 by 5 layout and the mass bias in a
strong position. This Post will sound the same as the others. This ball is great.
Bowled on a Old wood house here in San Antonio with a X-mas pattern with 42 feet with ok backends. While the Freak would be done when the heads go, the perfect ball to go is the Freak out. Cleans the heads well and a good arc on the backs for a good read on the lanes. Track is really going in the right direction and I love this ball 5 out of 5.Also I didn't change the box surface but may try a different surface.

This ball is everything i was looking for.

Specs:
15Lbs 4Oz before drilling, 3"Inch pin, 3 1/4 top weight, box surface.
Drilling:
Pin over ring finger, MB 1"Inch right of thump, no balance hole.
Bowling on AMF Synthetics, 38 feet X-Mass oil pattern, second shift.
Check my profile.

According to the drill sheet, this drilling should give me enough
length with the most dramatic backend reaction, and this is exactly
what this ball did.

Goes long and the reaction was almost not fair compared to
my teammates equipment.
They were asking all night long if this "Thing" is legal !!!

Perfect midlane read with strong, but predictable angular backend snap.
Hit is powerful and light pocket hits, carry very well.
Also carrydown does not seems to calm down this weapon.
I have to agree with northface28 that this ball will change
how particle pearls are going to reviewed from now on.

My favorite ball right now and the first out of the bag for medium,
medium-carrydown conditions.

10 out of 10 for this one.
Great job TRACK.

Thanks for reading.

I LOVE THIS BALL. This is the best ball i have ever bought other than the original Trauma. This ball does not look pretty down the lane it hits like a brick. When i first bowled with it i left alot of splits because i didnt know how to roll it. Then i got used to it and now it gets close to the pocket its a strike. so i recommend this ball to anyone that likes to get lots of strikes.

I have had this ball now for over a month and feel comfortable posting a review.

It is drilled pin under and between the fingers, cg in the middle and out about 1 1/2 inchs and the MB is in the strong position about half and inch from the thumb.

GREAT BALL. Get down the lane cleanly.HITS and HITS extremely hard. Probably harder than the original Freak fro me. I find myself being able to use this ball on just about anything. 60 ft of oil would probably be the only shot I could not use this ball on. I have to stand deeper with this ball than with the original Freak. Hooks late and hard.

When I start leaving 4 pins and no matter how far left I get I keep leaving them, it is time to put it away. This has happened only a few times, but it still occurs.

I love this ball, definately the first thing out of my bag right now. thinking of getting another, only putting a slightly more tame drilling on it.

I give it a 10 out of 10, because it seems like it can be used on almost any shot, and balls that can do that are very hard to find these days.

I got this ball as a christmas gift and was expecting a hook monster you know all the hype on the huge backends this ball has, Well lets put it this way I was sadly mistaken and dissapointed at the lack of hook this ball had out of the box then I had a leverage hole punched in still no hook, then i had the surface sanded off..........talk about a change now this ball is a monster and it carries the world and especially the 10 pin off the deck. THis is just a preliminary review but just wanted to get out the face that if you are having problems moving this ball take off the gloss. tonight was the 1st league night i have had with this ball since i got it sanded only got to use for 2 games because of breakdown but they were 257 and 238 so far I'm very pleased

Ok, I have had mine for almost 2 months now.

Ball specs. 15lb 3.5 oz, 4"pin. Drilled it with the pin to the right of ring finger, cg swung out and mass bias to the right of thumb so all three markers line up. Well, in box condition, this ball wouldnt do anything for me unless I slowed my speed up alot. The factory polish on this ball is too slick for oil. It moved too late and slid too far to the right. So, I wetsanded it to 800 and put Docs Elixir on it and now this ball is great. The elixir helps it keep its length, but the rougher coverstock helps it grab and FLIP!! The hit on this ball is tremendous, anywhere near the pocket and you will carry everything in sight. Great ball, but if you want it to move, drill it stronger than I did or alter the coverstock for oil. Another great Track ball!!

Thanks for reading my review.

After talking to Bill Monce from Track, I felt the Freak Out would be the ball for me for Medium to Drier conditions. I have had so much success myself with the Original Freak along with selling the Freak to my customers I had to bring this ball in to our shops.

The Freak Out is a slightly less particle load ball, polished at the factory with a slight tweak to the core. Expecting this I drilled to ball more aggressive than my freak. I layed the ball out with the Pin 3 1/2" to my axis and put the Mass Bias at a 50 Degree or #3 Position to get it to start up a bit sooner.
I tried the Freak Out over several conditons from medium oily to dry. This ball at least factory polished is best suited for dry lanes. I am not going to alter the surface just because it fills a void in my equuipment. A particle ball that gives me the length of a polished reactive but smoother transition than a polished reactive. I feel it gave me the length of my Monster Frenzy, but had a smoother but still hard breakpoint.

I would catorgize this ball best for a bowler with lots of hand. The hit was good, not great like the Freak, but still plenty strong.

If you want a polished particle ball that give good length in medium oil but a strong but smooth arc on the backends, this is your ball. If you are looking for this ball to react hard when it hits the dry you might want to break the shine and polish with something else to create more reaction.

Thanks for reading my review and best of luck in your bowling.

15lb, 3 inch pin, 3 1/2 top weight : Drilled 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 with a balance hole at 5 1/4 across bringing the side weight back to a 1/2 positive.

Before recieving this ball I read an interesting review on this ball in Bowlers Journal International,

QUOTE " This is possibly the most powerful ball we have seen this year (in reference to 2002). The light load particle provides the perfect tires to take advantage of the hemi-like motor. The Freak Out delivers great length and neck-snapping turn and burn just past the end of the pattern ". UNQUOTE

Well it certainly delivers! I drilled mine with the intention of obtaining some decent skid, decent flare, and a hard turning motion to the pocket. It does all of that and some. I purposly changed the colour of the grips I put in this ball to see when it sets up and you can see the flare from the moment it leaves your hand. Such a strong rolling ball, it keeps the pins real low and continues it's drive right through the pindeck. The coverstock can handle anything and whilst I am yet to find a flood (like I'm going to find one in Australia) I have no doubts the oil would just delay and promote the ever strong snap into the pocket.

I've only used this ball twice now and with an 8th place in SA and a win at last weekends Southern Cross Cup, $2150 says that this ball is a keeper! If your looking for a pearlised ball which clears the heads, and snaps real hard, and hits like a scud missile, this one is for you! 10/10 in the pearl stakes

Drilled 4/34 by 4. Pin above ring finger and inch. Small weight hole. I like this ball much better than my freak. I think that is much more versatile. i like that i can shape the breakpoint easily. I have played this ball from over the guttercap, to a norm duke line from 4 board to 1 board. The carry is excellent. I trip fours and tens well with it. Recommendable on med heavy to medium.                 10 out of 10

Tweener and carrydown delight!

I picked this up used from WebWeb.  Nice shape and quick delivery.

3 inch pin out and pin to mass bias line has the cg kicked one inch to the right off line.

Drilled 4 inch pin to Pap and the mass bias about 2 1/2 inches from thumb between strong and early roll(val position).  Ending side weight 3/4 finger 1/2 top 3/4.
Weight hole placed at 6 1/4 from grip center on midline, 1 inch  deep 59/64 bit. Final ending = 3/4 top, finger 1/2 and side 1/2.  (T-god recommended 3/2 ratio).
Finish is white pad followed by a little Magic!  Black Magic that is!

This ball is not exciting to watch!  On a sloppier shot than my league lately I put this ball against two of my recent league stars. Condition 43 foot oil 10 to 10 shot with carrydown after tournaments.

Competition is my long and flippy dynamic Groove and my medium and strong midlane and flip Virus!

ON this shot this pearl particle was the clear victor.  Dynamic Groove had to be played straight up the second arrow and could strike but it was a stretch!(note I'm using this ball on my league 43 foot shot with cleaner backends on a 15 at the arrows to 9 line)

Virus with a similar drilling was more exciting looking but just had an over under attack that was clearly not working today.

Playing this baby right over 14 15 to 10 this unexciting ball just scored!
An earlier midlane than the Virus seemed to be the key and then the ball had plenty of recovery to just keep one striking!!

Much improved since I added the weighthole and reduced side weight to 1/2 ounce.

All in all this may be the fit between my dull particle balls Deadly Virus AMF EVolution extra that I couldn't quite find with my Eraser, Virus, and Shock Zone/Riot Zone.

Most similar to the Eraser with more midlane control, Less flip than the Virus.
Slightly later than the Riot Zone with similar boards covered and more pure backend.  Earlier than the Shock Zone with similar strong backend but better midlane control.

This ball is an exact medium condition light carrydown ball.
Perfect for moderately sloppy league shots!

Regards,

Luckylefty
PS or lazy lefty I hate to pick up single pins! Boring! This ball will help!

drilled this ball pin over fingers, cg kicked out mass bias strong. looking for control for when the lanes started to go away. really nice movement, no surprises here just nice arc, and good carry. ball definately has a place in anyones arsenal, just remember there are stronger balls outhere, do not think this is a hook monster, drill it as such. i will give this ball a 9 out of 10. thanks track!

Ok, first some backround information on the ball itself, the Freak Out I got is a Bonanza ball, and I was told it had a 8" pin, after I actually took the ball to my proshop, it had a 9+3/4" pin, this was on Thursday, and my guy didn't know how he was going to drill it and wanted some time to think about it. Today I went in and he weighed the ball, turns out the CG was missmarked and it was only a 4" pin, so I actually got a decent ball for a Bonanza price. I got the ball drilled with the pin about 3" directly above the bridge and the GC about 4" below and slightly to the right of the ring finger (RH). This ball for me will be the ball I goto if my Muntant is hooking too much and my Inferno is skidding too much. It has a nice arc to the pocket, doesn't snap like my Triple Threat does. It gets good length, as long as I don't try to help it (which is often since I just got off a 2 week vacation). A good compliment to the Mutant and a great addition to the new Track line, add a Triple Threat and you have a nice 3 ball lineup that can handle anything from heavy oil to medium dry.

I bought this ball expecting to get a ball that would go long on medium oil and flip. I got a pin out ball and drilled it with the cg in the center of the grip and the pin about 2 inches above the fingers. The mass bias was to the right of the thumb. This drilling was supposed to complement the ball's tendency to go long and flip.

I am currently bowling in a house with older wood lanes - guardian heads, with the middle of the lane heavily oiled and backends stripped every time the lanes are oiled. Under these conditions I was expecting a hard snap to the left.

What I actually got was a rather strong, but predictable arc. The length is decent when kept inside the oil, but I never saw much of a flip. The hit and carry are good, but not outstanding. I'm sure this will be a good dependable ball for me, but not at all what I was expecting based off the manufacturers hype. I'm not sure it's really a medium oil ball for me - I think I could use it on some pretty heavy soup.

Specs:
15 lbs,
2-3 inch pin, around 3 TW, drilled pin over ring, CG in palm, MB left of thumb.

This was the only ball I really threw for quite some time so I have quite an attachment to it.  Regardless I'll try to be objective.  I've played with this ball in three conditions, Box, Dull, Polished.

Positives:
This is an excellent ball for medium down to dry.  I wish the guy who originally sold me the ball had told me that when I bought it, but I have no real complaints.  In the box condition the ball is a bit jumpy, but then again Track marketed this as a skid/flip ball so that's the ball doing it's job.

I've found this ball to be very diverse.  In it's NIB cover the ball was quite strong, making a strong turn at the dry even from a pretty deep line 25 out to 10 or 8 or so.  I think this was definitely a temporary trait of the ball.  As it got older and had more use, the recovery of the ball declined.

With a duller finish, it was a go shorter, hook harder version of the original.

With a highly polished finish (sorry, don't know the grit) the ball is a pleasure to play down and in.  With the polish I get more length than before, so that when it makes a move it doesn't chop.  Also, I think the shape of the movement the ball makes transitions from snap to arc as you polish it more.  While this may be intuitive and obvious to some, I see it as being a very good characteristic, as it demonstrates the versatility of the ball.

The hit is nothing spectacular, no flying birdogs on every pocket shot.  I would say it is just average, but not bad.  I also think it is nothing special on carrydown as it is marketed.  I've watched my ball lose a ton of reaction as the carrydown gets thick, so I'm not sure if I'm throwing it wrong, or of Track is full of it.

Overall, very versatile, good length, nice slow arcing ball when polished.  Dulled and NIB it's a little jumpy for my liking.

Negatives:
This ball introduced me to ball death.  Now I know this might sound awful, but it's not that bad.  I enjoy throwing the ball more now that it is more than a little dead then I did when it was new.  The surface got a little bit too tame around 300 games and I had it resurfaced.  I got reaction back for a few games before the ball was just slow moving again.  After making big adjustments in how I threw it, I began to like it even more.  I like how the shape of the movement transitioned form skid/flip to a nice slow arc.  I have to say that as the ball died, the control increased.  So you take the good with the bad.  As the ball lost reaction, it became more suited for drier conditions than medium or heavy.  In heavy this ball is useless.  It just doesn't have the muscle given MY abilities to make a big turn in oil, and when it does expect the bucket.
Finally, as the ball did die, I was less and less able to play an inside line.  The ball just didn't have the steam to come back from anything deeper than the 4th arrow or so.  Oh well, I have other stuff for that.

Overall negatives, ball death its oil-phobia.

I would highly recommend this ball to any who ask, but I would also like to try some more stuff from Track.  This ball makes me worried that all particles will die young.  But if they are still good in death as my FO was, I would be glad to keep buying.  I still use it from time to time, and I still enjoy it.

My favorite track ball by far.. unless you go back to the days of the blue triton then theres competition. I got this ball off a friend of mine that bowls in college. Its drilled pin below ring cg at 45 degrees with an axis 3  3/8 from pin pitched 1 1/4" out to give max flip on the backend.
I used this ball at my college tournment in philly this past weekend after my stinger low flare was go 3-4 ft too long. Took this ball out an shot 960 for my back 4 games. Went onto finish 4th. The next night in league used this ball.. little big of a drier condition an shot 245-247-259-269. won all the high game pots an the king of the hill we run within the league. So i am a big fan of this ball!! Great job track

Well....It's time I do one of these.  I've been around long enough.  My Freak Out is 14lbs with a label drill and left in box condition.  I bowl at a house with a medium top hat pattern.  Well this ball kicks ass!!  So far the only other ball that I have seen with soo much hitting power is the V2 Clean.  My Freak Out is starting to tame alittle now that I have about 60 games on it.  I can play any line that I want to as long as I change what I need to.  This ball is very forgiving and gives you enough room you should be able to strike with it.  I've been able to string many strikes and have some nice games with it.  This is a very even rolling ball and you can make it go loooooooong and snap or arc very hard to the pocket.  This ball just rolls threw the pins.  All in all I love this ball and will update this when I have more time!

Well, i just had the chace to drill up one of the NIB Freak Outs at the local pro shop. All i can say is that i love the ball. Though it was not really snappy but it gave a very good skid and a very strong yet controlled arc to the pocket. The ball was very predictable at the breakpoint and did not really overreact. The ball was exceptional at carrying the light pockets and the flushes, if i missed right, the ball would come back to the pocket. I think the only slight drawback could be that the ball did not really hold its line very well when i went brooklyn. The ball was drilled up for control, lots of length and a strong arc at the break point. Though this is a old ball, but it is my favourite in my arsernal. This has been my first track ball but i sure am going to continue buying Track next time.

Drilled my Freak Out with my fav 5" span, pin above ring, cg stacked.
Bought this used from a BallReviews member, and it was in great condition w/ no blemishes, dents, etc. I must say I was impressed on how this ball reacts. No alteratons to surface, I just clean it til it shines.
I bowl on light-med oil mostly, from board 29-30 to around 8-10 with high revs at about 15-17 mph. No problem for the Freak Out to come back, and come back hard! Wasn't sure about this ball at first, but I'm very glad I got it, this ball rocks. Usually don't make much adjustments when lanes break down, normally take off or add speed as needed. Versitle ball. Another fantastic Track product.

drilled at about a 60 degree layout.

goes pretty long starts reading the mids really late and then has a nice sharp arc on the backend.  good for carrydown as its able to get through the heads with no trouble.  is a little jumpy as it hits the dry so longer patterns and carrydown are usually better to be using this than the fresh stuff.

Not sure about the pin and top weight on the ball but I believe it is 3 inches and 3oz.
Ball is 14lbs and drilled label.

This has been my favorite ball for 3 years.  It has been the first out of my bag and I still have plans to use it now that I have gotten a ball to possibly replace it.  This ball goes long and snaps back into the pocket.  I can play any line from down and in to a deep hook.  The hit from this ball is incredible and I can flatten my hand and shoot the ten pin.  This ball fits in just above my Lane 1 H2o and above my Ebonite V2 Clean.
