Thoughts:
This ball is just not designed for my style and I just do not get a great reaction with it either. The original X-Ception is by far a better hitting and better reacting ball than its counterpart, the 5.0! My teammate, who is on Track's amateur staff absolutely loves his and gets a great reaction with his but it is just NOT what I thought it would be. I'm sure once I find a specific condition for this ball, it will do the trick and I'm not downing it altogether, but it just doesn't work for me. Sometimes in the heads it will get through clean and snap back hard, but then sometimes it will give me that over/under feeling, just the same as the first one we laid out. It is still in my locker at the home house I bowl in, but it does NOT go with me to league nights regularly. I'm sure other bowlers out there have found great success like my team mate, but I just can't break the 5.0's code.

I drilled 2 Xception 5.0's. Both balls have the pin under the fingers. One has the mb at 45 degrees the other at 90 degrees. These balls compliment each other very well. The 45 degree drill is a hook and layoff ball that I use on fresh backends. This keeps the ball from driving to hard through tthe pins. The 90 degree drill I scuffed lightly with a burgandy pad to pick up a roll sooner. This ball works better when the backends get some carry down and you need the ball to finish. I can also use this ball on slightly longer patterns. In my arsenal this ball fits between the GP2 and the Xception.

The 1st is 5x3 with the pin under the fingers and the MB at 80. The Xhole is on my axis. Box Surface. This ball gets through the fronts and REALLY reads the midlane with a very smooth move in the back. This ball works well on the fresh but really shines when the track starts to open up. This ball reminds me a lot of the Absolute Inferno with better bit.
The 2nd is a 5.5x4 with the pin over the fingers and the MB at 45. The Xhole is on my axis and Box surface. This ball has about 5 more boards of backend that the 1st 5.0. This ball gets down the lane very nicely and saves a lot of energy for the back. I used this ball during doubles and singels at ABC. I shot 666 & 766 with this ball. When the track starts to break down and there is some carry down on the back, this ball is a MONSTER.
This is one of the best balls I have EVER thrown!

pin 5 inches from PAP and under bridge. The MB is 1/2 inch inside of my VAL. I left the OOB surface on it.
Lane Conditions:
I have used this ball on synthetic and wood lanes. I am not sure of the pattern on the synthetics, but the wood lanes had several different patterns.
HOOK:
Heavy oil- The 5.0 will handle some oil, particularly for those with slower ball speeds. I don't see it as a true oil ball, unless the surface is adjusted accordingly. 8.0 out of 10
Medium- This is where the 5.0 shines like a real 'Diamond". It can cover mediums to medium/heavy for any style. It clears the heads nicely and makes a strong yet predictable move on the backends. Most bowlers will love how it allows them to open up a shot even if their hand would not normally allow so with other equipment. 9.5 out of 10
Light- Most of us will not be able to use the 5.0 on drier conditions. When it encounters friction it wants turn. With the Heat and the Desert Heat Track as far better options for dry lanes. 4.0 out of 10
Total Hook is going to be comparable to the Rule. HOWEVER, if you face fresh backends, the 5.0 could easily outhook the Rule by 5 boards.
Total Hook: 8.5
Control:
With the OOB finish the 5.0 is going to reaction too violently off of dry to be a control ball. With the proper layout and the proper surface prep it could offer up a smooth arc throughout the lane. 6.0 out of 10
Expected Reaction:
When I drilled this ball I didn't expect is breakpoint to be this strong, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. Bowlers can expect length and backend. Those with the original Xception will see similiar reaction throughout the lane, only add 5-7 boards throughout the lane.
Impact:
My new TOY! The 5.0 hits the pins very well no matter what angle you are trying to get to the pocket from. Usually a ball hits awesome from one particular area, but when it is played in a part of the lane it was not drilled for it will suffer. NOT the 5.0. The only time it lacked PUNCH at the pocket was when I tried to use it on a condition without enough oil.

Readability:
I have stated in the past that I don't like to read lanes with a ball that moves very strong off of the breakpoint. The 5.0 is the "exception" to that Rule for me. The Goo particle pearl gives good length and with the nice coloring you can see the transition from heavy oil to buff to dry with ease. I did not do so, but if the backend reaction was smoothened out a bit with a smoother coverstock the 5.0 could fit this slot real nicely!

Strengths:
Use the 5.0 on medium conditions through med/heavy. It is best when there is oil to get it down the lane. Weaker releases will like how it will still move off of the breakpoint with authority. I have never thrown a ball that cuts through carrydown as well as the 5.0.
Weaknesses:
Stay away from the extremes. Heavy oil is too much for this ball, and if you are on heavy you should have the Rule GP2 anyways. Light oil is not good because the particle pearl cover is going to need some assistance getting down the lane.
Comments:
If you are a bowler that has been wanting to try Track and have yet to have a ball catch your eye, try this one! It will be useable on most of the conditions you will face.
Overall Rating:
9.5 out of 10. I want so badly to give the ball a perfect 10. When you have a ball like this one that can keep you in play for atleast 6-9 games on most shots, it is difficult to not think it is perfect.

I drilled mine with the pin below and between my fingers,
CG stacked below pin and mass bias below my thumb.
I drilled it this way so the ball will check up early
for the longer PBA patterns.
I left it out of the box and used it on a house shot
the ball rolled up nice in the mid-lane and still finished strong.
However, it wasn't what I was looking for so I scuffed it with a
wet grey scotch bright pad. It was even better on a house shot,
but I still wanted it to check up quicker and harder.
So I scuffed it again with a wet red scotch bright pad.
This seemed to do the trick as it checked up quick but still
had nice hook on the back.
I love the way this ball fine tuned so easily
it gave me plenty of options without losing hitting power.
I see this combination getting plenty of use this summer.
I haven't drilled my other 5.0 as I'm waiting to see how the
the changes to the PBA regional patterns are going to play out.
I will post again when I drill the other 5.0.

Second one drilled 4 1/2 by 7, pin under ring finger and MB left of thumb. Ball reads middle of lane better but is much weaker on the back. They are about an arrow different in the amount of hook but both hit well. The second doesn't hit as hard as the first but carries very well.
Very good ball with Exceptional Hit and carry. Good step between GP2 and the Exception.

A gift from Anthony (AChappy) Chapman and first time throwing it shot 696! If you are accurate and speed is on point the pocket is history, you will crush everytime. Turns up alot harder than the Xception and is rev friendly to those with hand. The 5.0 will get down the lane and it will turn over, a negatively yet positive attribute about this ball is that it will tell you if the lanes are drying up....It told me through a pocket 4-6! On the positive side a minor adjustment and you can still keep the ball in play. Hitting power is the equivalent to the juggernaut on steriods-Bottom line this ball is dang good....Xceptionally Good. Nuff Said!

Medium rev player with average ball speed
The Xception 5.0 is a wonderful compliment to the original Xception. The 5.0 creates excellent skid through the front part of the lane with a smooth continuous backend. The 5.0 will is overall a stronger ball than the original Xception however neither is a heavy oil ball like the GP2. The 5.0 is a great ball for medium to medium to dry conditions, as well as medium length patterns. The particle pearl coverstock helps control the backend into a smooth continuous motion rather than a hockey stick like reaction. The 5.0 is great for a medium pattern with fresh backend. Overall the 5.0 is a great ball to have in your arsenal for medium conditions.

Layout 4 7/8 x 4mb on val, 1 5/8 above mid line
Testing conditions: various…tried this in 4 different houses in out of box condition
Readability and Hook: On the over under shots, I actually had to stand pretty far left on the approach to start because of it’s strength off the free hook. It pushed easily downlane and had a very hard turn on the backend.
In the out of box finish, I had better success on a med/med condition, just shy of heavy. This is where the ball showed it’s true strength. It read the midlane very nicely and had a very strong backend reaction. It opened up the backend tremendously offering a ton of room for recovery.
Control: This ball responds very strong once it encounters friction. It had a much better look and offered more of a strong arc on the medium conditions.
Hit: Once making its turn, this ball offers very good hit and carry.
Overall: This is another great addition to the Track family in the medium oil range that helps the bowler get good length and a strong backend reaction. This ball sits about 3-4 boards less than the Aggressive and about 4-5 more than the Xception. For the bowler who likes to attack the shot from a deeper line and wants good recovery, this is your ball.

I am a right handed power tweener. Approximately 30 degrees of tilt, 17 mph ball speed and a rev rate in the area of 370. Axis coordinates of 4 3/8†over and 27/32†up.
Xception 5.0 #1:
Drilled my first Exception 5.0 with the pin just above and to the right of my middle finger. Pin is 4 ¾ from my PAP with the mass bias 4 7/8†inches from my PAP (a 1 ¼†kick from my midline). There is no extra hole. If comparing to the Track Mass Bias drill chart, this drilling falls closest to the ‘sharp break’ drilling. If you prefer the degree layout method, this one checks in at 60 degrees. I used this ball out of the box on both a house shot and a tougher patter of 40’ flat, both on AMF synthetic lanes (1 year old). With the box finish on the house shot I could really wheel it. Inside out with plenty of recovery, however this resulted in plenty of 9 pins and some seriously ugly splits as my entry angle was simply too sharp. On the 40’ flat pattern, the box finish went too long and resulted in a rather over under reaction. Off to the spinner I went. Hit the ball with a wet grey scotch brite and whoa, what a difference. Amazing late midlane rev and PLENTY of hitting power. Evened out the reaction on the house shot and I had the whole lane. On the 40’ flat pattern, once they broke down a touch, was able to play around 13 to 7 with much success.
Xception 5.0 #2:
Wanting a bit more midlane roll and a more arcing backend shape than I had with Xception 5.0 #1, drilled this ball with the pin under my ring finger 3 ¾†from PAP. The mass bias measures in at 4 ½†from my PAP (2†kick off midline). There is no extra hole. This relates to the hook and set drilling on the Track Mass Bias drill chart. If using the degree method, this measures in at 50 degrees. Used this ball out of the box as well and still found that on the house shot, while I could wheel the lane I still needed a touch sooner midlane read and hit this ball with a wet grey scotch brite pad as well. PERFECT! Strong, predictable with unbelievable hitting power. The lower pin and shorter pin to PAP distance resulted with a very predictable hard arcing movement and pin shredding results. On the 40’ flat pattern I was able to find a good look around 17 to 12 with this ball. Again, very predictable and plenty of backend.
Overall, the Xception 5.0 proves to be a very versatile ball that can hold up to various drillings and cover adjustments. Don’t look for it to be an absolute hook monster, but if you are looking for something with plenty of downlane energy, don’t overlook this one.

This ball worked very well playing in and hooking the lanes, throwing hard up the track area with a weak release and playing the gutter on a shorter pattern. 5 inch pin from Axis MB 5 1/4.
The regular Xception work great for me when the lanes dry out a little and I need to move inside and open up the lane. The 5.0 can be used on the fresh.

The only drawback is the ball needs some oil in the heads to control it.
The backend, while very strong, is consistent and predictable, stronger
than the Rule. The 5.0 gives a better midlane read than the Original
Xception, while offering better oil handling capabilities. Once again,
surface tweaks will allow the ball to be extremely versatile.
This first appeared to me to be the Unleashed replacement, but it's truly
the Unleashed taken to the next level....
This ball is a 9.9 out of 10...

I had debated over the Absolute Inferno or this one. I think I made a good choice. Ball came with about a 2.5" pin and about 3 ounces of top weight. It was drilled by Dave Covington, a Track Staff member, using a drilling that worked well for him. Pin below bridge, cg just off the center of the grip and mass bias just right of the thumb. This ball is a fantastic fit for the shot I am throwing it on. House shot, top hat, oiled to about 33 feet and buffed to about 44 feet. The backends are very clean.
After a little experimenting this summer, I have found this ball is my first out of the bag. It offers great roll in oil, a strong move in the mid-lane and great continuation through the deck. While not a hook monster, it is more than adequate to use in med-heavy oil and handle carry-down with ease. It hits extremely hard and seems to carry the full range of off pocket hits very well. Ball is fine feeding it right or going straighter up the boards along the heavier oil line, it all hits the same. Have used it for four weeks now and have left one weak ten, my fault, and have shredded rack after rack on light hits. An amazing ball in my opinion. Great release from Track.

Ball ended up being drilled pin right of ring, mb left of thumb in my track.
I wanted a ball to play on med to med/hvy and also use when there is carrydown. This ball does just that. It is very versatile and lets me play various parts of the lane when needed.
I first used the ball at my house. THS, medium oil tapered to 8, dry on the outside. Oiled to 28 buffed to 40. The ball has such a smooth and controllable turn in the backend. I stood on 25 and played over 15 at the arrows out to 10. The ball comes roaring back from the breakpoint and hits unbelievably hard. I was also able to push the ball further right out to 5 and the ball came back harder and hit harder. I am amazed at the recovery from this ball.
I then used it on a broken down heavy oil pattern with carry down. I was able to move right and play up 10 and the ball gave me a long and controlled down and in reaction. It also hit the pins with authority and flushed everything straight back. Again, I was impressed with the smoothness and controlablility of this ball off of the breakpoint.
Overall, this is in my top 3 for favorite Track balls ever made. It makes a great 1-2 punch with the original Xception. I love the smoothness of the reaction. It is a strong reaction, but smooth nonetheless.

only thing i don't like about it is that i can't play it 100% of the time. when the heads start to dry out a bit, time to switch balls, but when there's a little oil up front, excellent ball. 9/10, why 9 if i like it so much? is there really a perfect ball?? lol.

It is a skid/snap ball, but because of the surface it is a little smoother then most people have it at. I would like it to be more skid/snap but I havent fixed that. Other then that the reaction is really nice. It clears the heads great with very little to no reaction on them and just a bit more on the mids. Yet when it hits the backend or 1-2 feet before it it reads strong. Then it starts its move. Snaping into the pocket great. Rating 10
Readabily
This ball for how I have it can easly be the ball I read the lanes with. Like I said with its ability to skid the heads and start in the mids this can be a benchmark ball. Yet if you hit to much oil this ball will skid 60 feet to success even at 400 grit (HAD IT AT 400 FORGOT TO CHANGE IT AND IT SKIDDED) this ball hates oil. Not ment for it. Rating 10
Versatility
This ball is not ment for it to be very versital. It takes to cover changes very funny. Like normaly if a ball is sanded it will handle more oil because of the grit. This ball does exacly what the other end of the specrum would produce. It acts like it is super polished. That also go vise versa on the specrum. If you have it polished alot it snaps earlyer ever so slightly, and it snaps harder. Rating 9
Hit
This ball hits like most track balls. It keeps the pins low as to create pin action and carry. The only thing I have seen is if you get around it way to much it will create alot of 10 pins. Other then that great hit. Rating 10
Overall comments
I didnt like this ball to start. Yet now that I see what it is able to do and how it takes to changes and oil I have grown to love it. This ball is the first to hit the lanes at most of the places I bowl. It may not get used but it can tell me what to use. This is most defenetly my benchmark ball that I am able to read the lanes with. Rating 10

A very good med oil ball. But having problems with carrydown.
Lately seems to lost it midlane read. Sometimes leaves a lot of pin 10. Maybe it's just me. ( yeah, i guess it is just me)
A very good roll, just played 28 to 10, then just watch the ball SHRED the RACK. Awesome. With the drilling, dried up heads sometimes is not a problem.
Just able to get smooth raction out of the ball. Recommend to any bowler who likes the WHOLE COLUMBIA, TRACK and AMF equipment. Just pure "go to ball". You just need to find the right one to match up. By the way, I am a high track bowler. So for you guys who likes to throw 30 to 5, then i think it is an EXCEPTIONALLY worth the $ 50. :lol:
