Got this ball last summer, thought it was awesome. Too bad when I got out of my little bubble I realized this ball was horrid. Never enough oil for it, always checks up or rolls out way too fast. If enough oil it has nothing on the backend to recover, just skids forever, could throw it for a spare ball. In other words...I hate it, never ever use it, just a ball in my bag right now. I have it drilled stacked 3 3/8 which might be why, left it in box condition. Should I think about redrilling it or maybe adding some serious polish to it? I think I will be giving Mike Mineman a visit and asking him for some suggestions. But until then...any ideas?

I really like Track Clean N' Polish.  Great shine, great length, definitely tames the backends some.

The leverage pin does make for the most flare which will result in a much earlier reaction because of the great amount of friction created by flaring over a new area of the ball each rotation.  If the polish doesn't work ,you could try putting the pin further (like 5" from PAP or so).  The mass bias also plays a big role.  The core is very strong so you'd want to put that further from your PAP if you end up redrilling it.

Here's a third vote for polish.  My OOB Untamed did exactly the same thing, would roll out or, if the oil was too heavy, go forever and never turn the corner.  I was ready to use it as a paperweight.  I threw some polish on it and now it's a different ball!  I had the front ten with it a couple of weeks ago on a freshish shot and have been a minimum of 50 or more pins over average with it for the past three weeks.  Give it a shot.

Try polish first and see how that works. If it still rolls too early and does not give you the backend that you want then you will be forced to plug it.

ttt, any particular polish guys? I know Track has several different types. And since I'll be talking to Mike Mineman (or at his shop anyway) I'm assuming I'll be going with Track polish. Won't be doing this til Saturday so all suggestions appreciated. Thing is I still want the ball to move...not a big hook just a decent kick on the backend but the ball just really needs to stop rolling out.

Hey Hex,

If you want length with strong backend, use Magic Shine.  For length and a little more control on the back, go with Delayed Reaction.  Clean and Polish is more our overall polish.  Just tell Mike what you want, he'll know.  Please tell him I said hi, haven't talked to him in a while.

Thanks for the help everyone, sounds like I will probably go with the delayed reaction over clean N polish because of my style, slow speed with med revs, sounds like it would match up better. If its too weak I'll go with the clean N polish. If this doesn't work I guess I'll just plug the darn thing and give it another go, but I really think it just needs some polish. Well I'll be out there on saturday to actually get something done so thanks for the advice everyone.

After my saturday morning league went to the O'Fallon shop to have them put some polish on my untamed.  Mineman was not there but the guy who was seemed very smart and was kind to me.  He took one look at the ball and said there was no way it was legal...WAY to much side weight. Told me that the way it was drilled there is no wonder why all it does is roll out.  So he drilled a weight hole for me and said that the ball will roll early still but will actually finish.  Can't wait to try it out, will throw it on monday or tuesday. He also said that if I still don't like it we can mess with the coverstock a little bit.  Sure hope things turn out ok, hate to think that I wasted my money on this ball, I know there has got to be something in it.

Got to throw it today, ball actually surprised me a little bit.  It had more length but not a ton, but had a real nice smooth arc on the backend but what surprised me was the carry. Geezus awesome, carried more light hits than I could count. Ball actually didn't cover as many boards as I thought it would in OOB condition but hey I like to play it straighter anyway, so no problems there. I may still consider polishing it just to see what will happen but I would like to throw it in my sport shot league first before messing with it. Anyway, thanks for the help guys, although if it was drilled correctly in the first place....
