Desert Heat
« on: February 27, 2006, 09:30:38 AM »
Hey everyone,
I got a Desert Heat a couple weeks ago and drilled it with the pin stacked above the bridge. I believe the pin is 2-3 inches from the center but I'm not sure of the top weight. The ball drilled as is goes really long but has too much backend. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to drill a Desert Heat so it does not over react on the backend.

You could also try to dull the surface some. I just sanded mine to 2000 grit and it seemed to tame down the backend reaction. Just something to try. Ken

I had one that was too skid/flippy, and I drilled one with the CG out to start it a little earlier. It helped.  Also with the one you have, weigh it up and see what it has in it, and drill it back to 1/2 negative 1 inch inside your PAP, whatever size you need just make sure the hole is 2 1/2 in. deep.
Good Luck!!

I am placing another vote for uwecbowler to throw some Delayed Reaction on it!

Do you guys think that the Clean'n'Dull from Track would do the same thing? I dont have any Delayed Reaction but I do have some Clean'n'Dull.

Clean N' Dull is a ball cleaner.  Delayed Reaction is a polish with a slip agent that reduces friction between the ball and the lane.  So to answer your question, Clean N' Dull won't do the same thing as Delayed Reaction.

You can always ask your proshop if they have some, and if they do, they could apply some for you.  Another great product is Diamond Gloss.  It makes the ball really shiny but it doesn't leave the ball tacky.
