need a little help
« on: October 16, 2006, 08:57:15 AM »
Hey guys I need a little help! I'm trying to decide what my next ball should be and how to drill it up!  ALL I THROW IS TRACK and I feel as if I have a big gap in my arsenal. First a little about me, I am mildly speed dominate but still get plenty of revs. More of a "tweener" style. Anyway, lately on league nights the head mechanic is playing around with new oil and trying different things and it's throwing me for a loop. The problem is that my 2 top balls are turning up and starting to make their move about 7 to 10 feet too soon. Here is my arsenal:

Mean Machine - (always start with this)

Arsenal Artillery -(then move to this)

Rule GP2 - (I only take out this for tournament floods)

Sheer Havoc - ( on the condition described above hits pocket perfect but
on fresh oil will not carry at all, only for scorched lanes)

The 2 gaps that I would like to address are the HUGE GAP between the Artillery and the Sheer Havoc and the SLIGHT GAP between the Mean and the Artillery. I have thought about the original Machine, The Strike Machine, and now, From what I've heard about it I have thoughts of the new Power Machine.

ANY help you guys could give me all would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your help in advance,

Mark D.

Hmm, if your top two balls are turning up too soon then that must mean its getting dryer.  If that is so, then any of the Machines probably wouldnt be the best choice as you wont get that much more length.

Try the Track Equation with a lengthy drill.  Ask anyone, this ball is pure money!  I love my Equation.  It would go between your Artillery and Havoc.

Next in line would probably be an Inertia or Machine with lengthy drills on them.  Either of these will fit between the MM and AA.

The Power Machine is said to be a mixture of the MM and Eqn.  You have many choices, but for the conditions you speak of, I'd go with an Equation.

I would say either the Machine or Interia between the MM and the AA.  I also agree with Chewie I would look into a Heat Blast for between the AA and the SH.

Agreed.....

Machine and Blast would be what I look at right now.

Thanks a million guys, I knew that I could count on you for some great advice! I'm going to talk to my pro shop guy to see if he can get ahold of a heat blast. If he can't I may have to try ebay or something. Definitely like the idea of the original machine, I've been eyeing it up since I got the Meanie, I LOVE the robo core it's unbelievable. Thanks again and I'll let you know how it goes.

Little problem? sort of.... My Pro shop guy is twisting my arm trying to get the power machine in my hands. I don't know a hole lot about the ball, as most of us don't yet. So I was wondering in my situation as posted above what would you guys do? He said to take it and put a drill on it to calm down the "supper snap" on the back end that everyone has been saying this ball has. Won't that kill the carry or drive of the ball? not too sure ....HELPPPPPP

Sorry I'm being a pain

Personally I would fill the voids with this:

Between the Mean Machine and the Artillery I would place the Power Machine.

Between the Artillery and the Sheer Havoc I would place The Inertia. NOW I know that many would say the Inertia is stronger than the Artillery but the Artillery rolls sooner than the Inertia. This suggestion is based on the Inertia's OOB finish.

Carl,

If I do decide on the Power Machine (just not sold yet on it)what
kind of drilling would you suggest. By the way I can have it in my hands this afternoon and be throwing it tonight in league if I want too.
