Robo & Machine comparison video
« on: March 30, 2006, 06:13:28 AM »
Here is a little video I created to show the difference between the Robo Rule and the Machine.
Due to the size of the video it is best viewed if downloaded and viewed offline. The video gets re-sized from 960/360 to 600/400 which distorts the images and makes them look smoother at the break point.
Windows Media player also has a glitch that causes interference on the right side sometimes when viewed in full-screen mode for some reason.

The F-*,A-*,B-* are where the ball crossed the foul line, arrows, and beakpoint.

Hey Sean!

I love the side-by-side videos bro! Excellent way to compare both of them! What software do you use and do you have a copy you could possibly send to me? I would like to make a better comparison video using the side by side, let me know buddy and God Bless You!

Thanks all for your kind words they brought an immediate GRIN to my face.

Glad ya all enjoyed it. It shows that my work payed off takes quite a bit of time to sync them up and if it gets 1 more person using Track then it is worth every minute/hour. Which in this case was about 4 hours of crop/pan, trim, sync, etc.
Think Track will give me a job?

I am going to do a couple more on different shots with these and others, will probably be on the USBC Nationals and PBA B/Shark/43' patterns.

Trying to hit different break points while keeping feet in the same place definitely doesn't hurt my practice regimen either and gives me a better idea of where my ball crosses the arrows for a given break point. I very rarely target the arrows and much prefer to target the beak point. I feel I am more consistent when doing this.

I'd be interested to know how you did side-by-side, too.

Thanks,
TyShoe

I use Sony Vegas Video 4.0
I create individual videos for each shot with a resolution of 480x360 and then I create a new project where I set the resolution to 960(480x2)x360. The program has a feature that is called "trimmer" where I can trim the files down frame by frame and get them all the same length in time/frames. When I create the individual file I leave a little extra time for trimming in the sync process to allow for syncing up the release point of each shot and them staying the same length for proper continuity. Somtimes I can not sync up the release perfectly due to frame timing but they are at least within a half a frame at 30 frames per second so they are very close.
I put all of the shots from each ball in a seperate video track and then set the resolution to 960x360 in the pan/crop pane for each which creates a transparent section I then center one at 0 and one at 480 in the properties of the crop/pan pane.
There are other tricks that I could do like make myself a lefty pretty nice program.

Really great vid!

Probably the best comparison video I've seen...

Track should hire you as a consultant.
It would be great if they put together some videos on their site, on the order of yours.

I love the F A B concept.

Good job!

I have a Robo Rule and love it. In comparison which do you like better? I also have an Arsenal reactive and think that is a great ball also.
 Kong 69

Haven't bowled enough different conditions with them yet to develope a favorite.
So far what I have seen though is I have push room with the Machine and pull room with the Robo due to the amount of backend they have and the amount of angle theyt create.

Storm Track,

Now can Movie Maker do that or only Sony Vegas Video do it? That's my question...

Not sure I have never used Movie Maker, I am sure there are others besides Vegas Video that can do it though.
