Title: 505c2 Questions
Post by: jitter1127 on August 17, 2014, 06:31:58 PM
My neighbor gave me a brand new 505C2 ball.  It is not exactly what I had wanted, but you cant beat a free new ball.  Anyways I am basically just a league bowler now, maybe a few tournaments here and there.  Usually I avg in the low 200s and bowl in medium oil.  I am a low rev player, medium ball speed, and normally play a down and in shot.  Right now I am throwing a hammer "no mercy" and I have the original (1997) track heat for backup.  The "no mercy" does not seem to work too well for me (not sure if its the drilling or not?).  My original track heat seems to have more hook and I can not understand it.  Do you guys think the 505c2 will work well for me and what would a good dual angle layout be?

We'd need more information to give you a proper dual angle layout.

I have a 505c2 also and it's been a great ball. At first mine was 60 x 4 x 40, it gave me length and a strong backend starting up in the later midlane. I got it plugged and redrilled to 60 x 5 x 60 which made the ball be long and smooth. Both layouts were versatile over different conditions and carry was off the charts

What other info would you like?
So you did not like the stronger back end?  I think that I would prefer to have the stronger back end due to my lower revs.  I do not know my exact rev rate or my axis tilts and what not.  My ball speed is around 15-17mph.

I liked it, I mean I even shot 793 and 777 on back-to-back Sunday league nights with a 300 sandwiched between on Wednesday.
I had a couple tournaments coming up and I needed something smoother so I chose that ball because of the core/cover matchup.
You're best bet for a layout option is go to a pro shop and have them watch you bowl. We can't suggest anything in the dark except general layouts that may or may not work for you
