Anybody want to bowl with us??
« on: June 28, 2005, 04:31:43 AM »
Hey there guys,

Excaliber and I are going to try to bowl the Hoinke on August 23-25 (somewhere on those days).  This is an open invitation to all of you Tracksters (or not, like you Jeffrevs) to join us and have some fun.  I may even give an impromptu core lesson (if anyone wants), I have some ball slices I can bring to help give you guys some visuals.

Rev_O, Clint or any other staffers, can you guys join us?  How about you Charlest?  Talked to Ernie McCracken last nite, he's very interested.

This is a tentative schedule of my trip home to the midwest:
Cincinnati - 8/23 - 8/25
Chicago - 8/25 - 8/28  Don't know if I can bowl in Chicago, I'll be with family then.

I'd like to see Chapman throw the ball in person so I can stand behind him and clap my hands to..."Hercules, Hercules, Hercules"...  Please post your reply if your interested so we can even set up dbls/teams here before we go.  Carl and I are looking forward to meeting you guys....seeing your game will also help us layout your future Track equipment.

Here's the cost of the regular Hoinke...
Singles - $48
Doubles - $34 per person
Team - $34 per person
A/E - $15

Total $131

Rick,

I have heard about this tournament, but I don't know much about it. Do you happen to know what the entry fee is? Thanks.

Haven't been to Western Bowl since 85-86? Bowled Super Hoinke then, watched Duke rob the crowd with his towel bowling, Rudy Revs and Tucky P were playing a couple of guys for a few grand, Ozio/Wunderlich had some guys from Texas, my guys were playing Barwick and Crites...all going on at 5am!...good ole days...

Hey, don't know if all of you know this or not, but they having a running pot (no, not illegal drugs) for getting strikes on heavy pins. Bowl 6 in a row and it breaks the bank. I have been there and seen it as high as $15,000. Cost to try it, I believe was $2.

Just another added feature.

OH, Rick, I wanted to tell you that I will not be getting any Chinese food while I am there. I went to a Chinese place last year and was sick the entire weekend!!!!!

As of this point, I can not attend. With the wife's condition (she called me before I got to work this morning...takes me 35 minutes on way-she had passed out for no reason at all)This is one of the items that has plagued her for the last few years and NOBODY can figure out whats wrong. I really can't get away for any long amounts of time by myself.

However, if anything changes, I would love to go and will try to be there!

Nice Rick. I remember reading about this event the first time I picked up a Bowlers Journal 15 years ago.

Don't think my girlfriend would like the idea of me going to bowl the Hoinke instead of our planned vacation trip to Hawaii that same week/weekend! I'm shooting for 2006 baby. Aloha and go knock em' dead guys!

I will respond with a quote from one of the guys who I used to bowl regular pot games with.  When my friend didn't show up one time and I explained he was at a wedding...the response from one of the regulars was "You can't make no money at a wedding!"...  For you, replace wedding with Hawaii bud...lol

Well, I'm guessing that this is only for the better bowlers, but I know that me and a buddy of mine (both mid 200's average last fall...first year in adults) were talking about going. I can talk to him more about it.

super hoinke always has great pot games or whatever you want to call them  seen robby spigner andrew cain and art bowl  for some hefty cash also mike neumann from new york   said he would bowl any right hander for 10000.00  no lefties he said   but if you want a better chance at the hoinke go during the week the shot is 10x better becuase they want to give the locals a better chance and most people who bowl on the weekends are from out fo the area

No Big Willy, not at all.  Glad you brought it up, this is mainly for fun.  Everyone and anyone is welcome to join us, regardless of average.  Not trying to kill this, it's more for fun and get to meet the guys here.

In actuality, it's pretty hard for the higher avg guys cause the shot's not super easy.  Usually a capper takes the event, I only know of one scratch guy who's won it recently and he's tough.  His name is Vogelsang....
