Around the corner
« on: August 05, 2003, 12:35:42 AM »
I am interested in buying the Track heat 2 pearl . I looking for a ball to drill up , when the lanes have gone through transition . I looking for something to throw at a inside angle and turn the corner . Can someone give me some advise .

Thank you

Be VERY aware that this ball, possibly due to the Holoflex material used in it, will die in the range of 80-120 games. The surface is one that is not restorable. There are several discussions of this phenomena for this ball (the pearl only) in the older posts in the Track forum.

May I strongly recommend that you look for a longer lasting alternative like the Track Hex or the Threat?

FWIW I was strongly affected by this ball as it work so well for me as to be one of my all time favorites until it died. I tried 3 or 4 completely different methods to resurrect this ball, all unsuccessfully.

I have a Heat 2 Pearl and love it.  It has over 200 games on mine
and it still turns the corner with authority.  Only had it repolished
once (NOT resurfaced).  I clean it after every 3-6 games with either
Simple Green or Renew-It.

you lucky dog!!
Keep it clean is all I can suggest. In one of my re-surfacings I did get it to turn the corner again, but the hit was never there anymore. When I leave 8-10s, which I never do, the ball is/was DOA. That was the sign.

I have 2 heat 2 pearls, both with about 500 games on each, and they both have the same movement and hit as they did right out of the box. I've never had a track ball die on me except 1 of my threats.

Amazing! Makes me think Columbia and Track did sometihng like they did with the SPirit. The first batch was great; the second was a bad imitation.
Yet I ordered my Heat 2 Pearl when it first came out, in May of that year.
I only cleaned it, until it died.

The VooDoo is the only track ball I've bought since then, and I'm selling that. Kind of made me "gun shy" of Track stuff. I hate to be that way, but there is so much good stuff out there ....

charlest,
now is not the time to be gun shy with Track equipment. You had bad luck with one, but you did like your voo doo quite a bit right?
They are releasing some great stuff. The best high end stuff on the market, in my opinion----and the threat and thrash have put them up with anyone in the midhigh level as well.

I have many games on my Mutant. I had atleast 300 games Freak Out and it never lost reaction at all. I have read a few people saying the Freak died, but I had 2 of them, put quite a few games on both--my dad still has one of them and he has atleast 200 or so games on it-ON TOP of what I put on it.
