Temper questions
« on: April 22, 2008, 01:07:18 AM »
Well, I'm going to be bowling the pba again this summer. Right now all I have is a Track freak which I think is basically dead, a Razor blade and a fired up. I bowled this league last summer and I had difficulty getting any of this equipment to really turn up Scorpion or Shark. So my proshop guy suggested a t-road solid, which is fairly reasonable. But he also has several tempers in at a really good price. If I took the temper down to say 1000 grit or 800 grit with no polish, how much oil could it handle? I'm not looking for something to hook the lane, just something even rolling. I know the t-road solid will handle some oil. Any suggestions?

I cannot compare as I have seen very few of the Troads.

BUT....I can say....the Temper is a big hit in our area!  Looking great on all mediums.  All that I have seen have a fairly straight trajectory and then a smooth angular backend.

They look like a slightly more predictable Black Widow in my mind!

One of the high level bowlers I know said.  I can just use it about anywhere and ...."IT WORKS!"

I have said it time and time again. Out of the balls track has out IMHO the Temper rolls the fastest, still has POP on the back but is the smoothest out of them all.

Good to hear. Sounds like its what I need for the pba conditions.

This is my favorite PBA Exp. ball.  When all my other balls are hooking too much or I am lost, I grab my Rico Temper and play up the boards.  I can adjust off from that line by moving mostly towards the gutter.  I shot my hi PBA Exp. score of 297 on the Cheetah with my Temper.

How well did it work on the heavier patterns?

The Temper with a lower grit finish is a monster on heavier patterns. As Scoot mentioned, it rolls quick, but when there is enough oil it will still turn the corner very strong. I would probably make the first attempt with the cover be around 1000 abralon.

You're righ Carl.
The Temper I took to Training Camp was 1000.  I had a blast on the Panama Invitational pattern.  Carl hit it on the head.  The ball is a great piece at a lower grit finish.
