« on: October 13, 2004, 02:40:38 AM »
Okay guys, here goes the updated info.  Entry deadline for this month is 10/31...join in anyone!  Please submit averages to Andrew at loose5682, if you want you can also post out here for others to see and get an idea of who's at what avg.

Rules:
1) Pins over current average for 4 weeks of bowling, highest average at the beginning of the month will be used for that month
2) Must use a Track ball for all 3 games(1st 3 games if you bowl 4 in league)....spare balls ok
3) Pls list ball used so we all can see what's working out there...
4) HONESTY a must....LOL...I'm starting to get to know a few of you guys and I know how you are...lol
5) Report your scores weekly to loose5682 and update(modify) your personal post for all to see, it can also work as a cross reference to the leader board.
6)There cannot be multiple winners so second place to a previous winner will take the monthly prize and be included into the TOC.

Please use the following format to list your personal scores.

Week 1 - Avg 190; Shoot 700 - Pins Over Avg 130
Week 2 - Avg 197; Shoot 600 - Pins Over Avg 9
Week 3 - Avg 197; Shoot 510 - Pins Over Avg -81
Week 4 - Avg 194; Shoot 750 - Pins Over Avg 168  Total = 226

Wow, I'm impressed!  I knew there were some but seeing everyone pop up is cool.  So far we have.....

tenpinspro, Rock77, Aristotle, (Hall of famer) Anthony Chapman, loose5682, Traumabill, ClutchClay, TJFreaky24, VT_Turkey, Ernie McCracken, Mitch Cumsteen, OmegaBowler, EXCALIBER, bowler257628, Icetink, PNJ1267, dw23, not_enuff_carry203, aharvey, WIX, psaunders300, the great one, MC, stormin1

Off the top of my head, missing Mr Track, Precision, Vasilis, Roy Munson...who else wants some...lol

Thanks Andrew, it would be great if you can handle this for me.  Basically I like the idea also of starting 11/1 and count 4 weeks of bowling.  Highest league (pls) guys, avgs will adjust by week to keep it more fair because we only have about 18-21 games in right?  If you pop a series, it could really make you jump and that will make it harder for the following weeks, make sense?  I like the layout of Clutch's#1 simple breakdown per week, once the posts start to pop up, we could just leave them there in that position and modify it week after week vs trying to find and chase new posts.  Any other thoughts?  We've got some time so pls bring'em up....oh yeah, one more rule

Anyone 5'4" or under gets 10 bonus pins a week...LMAO....HEY, I'm at a height disadvantage...sounded good to me....

BTW guys, this is my deal.  It's not coming from Track, I thought it'd be fun.  I may however approach them to see if they want to get involved for prizes and stuff but no guarantees, alright?  I also have a few strange prizes you guys might like but it's common to me so no biggie, like half balls, I have a free standing clear wolf ball with a flat bottom for display, I thought about giving a couple of sets of grips if you want, I don't know.  I think I'll make a list of stuff you can choose from and we'll go from there...give me some more ideas in this area pls.

Sorry to all those who cannot participate but I feel this is the fairest scenario.  Joe, I highly respect your honesty, C4L...NO, Rags, didn't know you were a switch hitter there bud and Tracy, you're right, this is prejudiced...lol.

Yea man, i'll take care of the record keeping aspect of it, sounds good.  An idea for prizes...depending on how much stuff you get (i.e. half balls, sets of grips/slugs, towels, cleaner, etc.) and once you figure it out, you could base the placing system on that.  I.E. 1st place gets their choice either of something "big" (like a half ball) or a couple of "littler" things (such as the grips, towels, cleaner, etc.) something like that?  Don't know, just throwing out ideas here.  So we'll start 11/1, with the last day for scores being 11/30.  This means that the Monday and Tuesday leagues will have 5 weeks whereas everybody else will have 4.  Does that sound fair?  How do we want to work that out?  I for one will be using my Tuesday league, and I really don't care as to whether I get 4 or 5 league nights, really doesnt matter to me but I know it would to some people.  And always remember, this is more for fun and bragging rights than anything!

Thanks Andrew, (you'd better look out for that Rags character)

I think we should count 4 weeks of scores for everyone to keep it fair unless the guys want something else.  I have been questioned by a few on the honesty policy and my reply is just like you said, this is mainly for bragging rights and FUN.  I'd hate to think people would be dishonest for a towel...but I would keep an eye out for Rock77 and Ex, (Rock cause he said it and Ex cause I know one of his league averages..)  Forgot to mention, this is open to all men AND women of all averages, nothing too low or too high...(c'mon Wix), there are also a few more people that I help out here I know throw nothing but Track, c'mon and join in on the fun.  Imagine if you beat Mr Chapman, how many of you can say that you've ever beat a Hall of Famer?  haha...that's my goal!

Since we are going for pins over average, it has to be the same number of weeks for everyone or else the people with 5 weeks get a one week advantage (although it could be a disadvantage if they fall apart in week 5).  So, I'll vote for counting four weeks of bowling starting on 11/1.

Rick, glad you liked my example.  But, were you thinking of counting only the over average pins or total pins (Result A or B below):
Week 1 - Avg 190; Shoot 700 - Pins Over Avg 130
Week 2 - Avg 197; Shoot 600 - Pins Over Avg 9
Week 3 - Avg 197; Shoot 510 - Pins Over Avg -81
Week 4 - Avg 194; Shoot 750 - Pins Over Avg 168

Result A: Total Pins Over Avg = 130 + 9 - 81 + 168 = 226
Result B: Total Pins Over Avg = 130 + 9      + 168 = 307

My personal preference would be for Result A.  That way it would provide a full test of the bowler's performance during the tourney rather than just who can shoot a couple of big series (and possibly a couple of little ones).

I also like the offer of cleaners and polishes because I use those Track products.  Of course, if Track would like to get in as a sponsor and offer a ball, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

[brownnose]ALL HAIL TRACK![/brownnose]

Finally, a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Rick for coming up with this idea and offering to put up the prize(s).

Thanks Clutch, I also like your "A" breakdown cause that would keep it fair.  I liked the layout of the breakdown cause it was real clean and simple, maybe Andrew can modify/utilize his main post for up to date totals and have it act as a leader board as well, that's what I'm picturing.  Whatever's easiest is fine with me, no biggie.  Luckily I'm only at 168....j/k, I wish, I'm at about 13-14 and that's about the best it's gonna be without practice...that's why I proposed the 10 bonus pins...

I had a thought that should worry many of us if we are going to take part in Rick's tournament...........

......Mr Leong at his own admission can be tight **L** Who is to say that these towels he will be offering up will not be white towels bought a local dollar store and have TRACK written on them with a sharpie maker?

AND about this ball cleaner/polish thing....who is to say that he does not buy a bunch of 8oz bottles, empty half from every one of them into his 32oz that he uses in the shop and water down the rest of those 8oz bottles?

There are few things in bowling that pleasure me as much as being able to pick on Mr Leong a bit. <<<<<<<Rick, before you say anything about the pleasure thing I am a happily married man!!!!

Hey, one more thought guys, what do you think about winning only once? So we can always have a different winner until the TOC?...just a thought let me know what you think.

See Ex, this is bad, very bad.  I didn't even talk to you but I was thinking about writing the exact same thing....lol  You left out that the booby prize will be autographed pictures of me and you...

I dont think people should only be allowed to win once. But I do think that there should be a max # of wins a person can achieve through the course of the tournament.

Are we determining winners based on most over average for the month or per week?

If we do it per week, then obviously there will be more winners, if we do it monthly, then between now and the TOC, that leaves us 6 months I believe? That means 6 winners.

How bout this, we do weekly winners and you get the smaller prizes like towels polishes etc... Then we do an overall winner of the month who gets a bigger prize choice like the half ball display or even maybe Track shirts, if we can come up with them. How does that sound??

Rick...so far everything here looks good, I like the idea of using over and under average.  4 weeks sounds good, let's just say the first 4 weeks, sound fair?  I'll take care of the stat-keeping for it, but i won't be responsible for tracking down scores, it will be your responsibility to report scores (and averages, correctly!) to me so that your scores will be counted.  However, i'll be extra lenient and you'll have til the end of the month to get all scores reported.  I.E.  you could either save all your scores (but you have to make sure your averages are correct from week to week) to report to me until the end of the month, OR you could report them as soon as you shoot them (which is what I would prefer).  Actually, come to think of it, why don't we make sure we report on a week-by-week basis, that way we can have a somewhat accurate leaderboard going, to see how everyone does from week to week.

Also, at the beginning of the month, the league you use for the first week is the league you will use for the entire month.  Meaning, if you are close in average in the two leagues (since we are using the highest average, correct?) the one you start with is the one you finish with, regardless of whether it is higher at the end of the month.  Does that sound good guys?

Put me down as being for:
- weekly reporting of scores and ball(s) used
- using your highest average league (as of 11/1)
- using the same league for all four weeks (even if that league average is not the highest average for all four weeks)
- requiring that only Track equipment be used except for spare shots (like Rick said)
- basing the +/- on your sheet average for each week
- only winning a prize one time (if you have the highest +/- score more than once then you get bragging rights every time, but a prize only once)
- have a BR Track Tourney of Champions for the all the monthly (or four week period) winners that coincides with the PBA TOC
- -10 pins per game for people 5' 4" tall or less
- 10 pins per game for people 6' tall or more

Agreeing with Clay on...

Everything, especially the TOC idea, that would definitely be awesome.  Is there 8 months from now til the TOC?  Cause that would be ideal cause then we could do an 8 person bracket.  But if not, we'll work something out.

However!!

Being 5'10'' I do NOT agree with the 10 pin bonus for shorties or jolly green giants!  :-)  Sorry Rick!
