Brand new Rule GP2
« on: June 03, 2005, 03:06:58 PM »
Normally I am a storm guy almost all of my equipment is Storm. But today I got a GP2 drilled up for me. Our house changed lane conditions and has done away with the THS wall. It is a flatter pattern and longer oil. My Vertigo was the only ball that would move. I bought the GP2 since I wanted something more aggressive.

How has this ball worked for you on heavier oil conditions? I can't wait until my league night next week to try out the GP2.

Thanks for the help. I will try and get some more use out of this ball tonight. I will consider purchasing the scotch bright pads for the surface adjustments if my GP2 doesn't perform well during my league. Out of all the balls I've had drilled, I don't have one with a pin under the fingers. But like I said, I am used to throwing Storm.

Another thing is that a friend of mine who is a veteran bowler said that balls can  "hydroplane" in heavy oil. He mentioned that all balls will eventually skate past the break point with too much speed. Have you ever heard of this?

Yes stroker, it is very true.  It comes down to the simple concept of friction or traction.  Even if we have snow tires (like a particle ball surface) on our car, we can't go 80 mph thru heavy snow (heavy oil), right?  We still have to slow the car down enough so it can create the necessary amount of friction or traction to get a reaction.

Here is what happened today. I go to the house where my league is and shoot a few games. The 3 balls I have with me are the Track Rule GP2, Storm Ace, and Storm Recharge.

First off I threw the recharge to read the lane. The recharge hooked through the headpin so I knew I was dealing with burnt lanes. My recharge works like a charm on second shift THS which I averaged 192 on just recently. Regular leagues at my house don't start up until Monday, so the lanes sit and open bowling takes place there, so all three balls were reacting very nicely. I did get use out of my GP2 and it was pretty much hooking to Jersey. Funny thing is, when the GP2 goes brooklyn, it carries the entire rack. I noticed that the GP2 didn't have the backend my recharge did. The GP2 reacted similar to my Ace which mean reduced backend which mean that the balls were burning up a bit. But I will take the GP2 to the lanes on Wednesday and report on what happens.
