COMPARISON: the Phenom vs. the Super Freak
« on: October 09, 2003, 10:37:19 AM »

Phenom:

Hook Rating: (Dull-Polished) 38-30
Length (1-10): 3
Backend (1-10): 9
Core Power Rating (1-10): 9.0
Flare Potential (inches): 7
Friction Rating (1-10): 9.8
Reaction Shape: Strong Arc
Lane Condition: Heavy Oil

Super Freak:

Hook Rating: (Dull-Polished) 36-27
Length (1-10): 2
Backend (1-10): 7
Core Power Rating (1-10): 6.5
Flare Potential (inches): 4.5
Friction Rating (1-10): 9.8
Reaction Shape: Roll
Lane Condition: Heavy Oil

The only real difference is the Core Power Rating and the Flare Potential and Reaction Shape.

Everybody says that the Super Freak is a bigger hooking ball, but if you look at the specs that I've listed, you can clearly see that the Phenom is the bigger hooker of the two!!!

Oppinions???

The term "bigger hooking" shouldn't really be applied in this situation as it is so dependant on other factors other than the ball.  What those specs tell me is this....

SuperFreak.....Rolls off your hand..........will start "burning up or using energy" the second it makes contact with the lane.....made to be used in serious floods or with tons of head oil.........(gets into an early ROLL)

Phenom.........will push down the lane a bit further......unlike SuperFreak will not start to burn up energy as soon as it hits the lane......again on a surface with a lot of head oil....then as it makes contact with the surface will make a strong move ........(gets down the lane (skids) before making a move (arc)......

which hooks more??? well all depends....on a flood.....the SuperFreak as it should still be able to acquire traction and the Phenom may not ever grab but just skid the whole distance...........on drier conditions....well probably the Phenom as the SuperFreak would burn up energy extremely quick......

so which hooks more??? really depends....

yes, phenom is going to get down the lane farther b4 it hooks, and the super freak is an early roller. they both hook alot, but it's a different kind of hook.

After reading everything in this forum I'm looking forward to the Phenom Unleashed fitting in between my Super Freak and Freak Out. The Phenom just looked like to much ball.
