Is there a "best way" to drill a paradox?
« on: November 11, 2016, 06:16:52 PM »
Finally got one.  Does anyone know of any special considerations I should be making before punching it up?

If you need it: 17 mph (average speed from hand to deck) , 300 rpm, 10-12* tilt, 45-60 axis.

Thank you much

... my bad thought you asked which is the best paradox to drill. lol  :P

Without seeing you bowl, or knowing what kind of shot you'd be on with the ball, or what you want the ball to do... there's no telling the "best layout" for you.

With bowling equipment... the terms "Better" / "Worse" , "Best" , etc. are all OPINIONATED. It's different for everyone because everyone has different styles and bowl on different conditions.

Ask your proshop operator.... if you don't like him/her because a result was bad with previous equipment, then go to someone else or work out what went wrong with the priors.

Bowling is all trial and error. And when someone can't roll the ball consistently, it's almost impossible to further tailor equipment for them (not saying you)

Thank you for the input.  I guess trying to be vague with my question maybe wasn't the best call on my end.  I was more searching for something like for example what I kept hearing about the phaze, which was to reduce the pin-pap length by half an inch to an inch on a chosen layout.  Wasn't sure if there was any information like that floating around for the paradox.  I do agree though,  lots of variables to be asking for a "best".

Also, it's the original Paradox.  Still debating on where I want it to fit in my bag.

I prefer the pin up drilling but the ball is so good it will roll well regardless.  I say use your favorite layout and strike away!

Reducing pin to pap wouldn't by that little wouldn't make too much of a difference. Going from like 4.5" to like 2" yes you'll see a difference. As far as the Phaze big VAL angles and a 4000 pad is all ive heard on that ball. It's a smooth transitioning piece so shortening the VAL and trying to make it cover boards is a bad idea.

The Original Paradox is one of the more versatile Asyms I've drilled for customers. Definitely a great buy and addition to the bag for your tournament patterns or when you want to open the lane up.

Ball surface is the most influential item for ball motion - as much as 50%
pin - pap distance is next with about 25%
core strength and layouts make up the rest
I find that sticking with a couple layouts for my equipment seems to work the best
pin up or pin down mostly
occasional pin in finger depending on what im after

Thanks for the input guys.  I'm going to go with something pin up.  Probably 50x4.5x40 of something in that ballpark.
