Layout for my Power Mach, as a one two with my Meanie
« on: March 21, 2007, 02:16:38 PM »
I just got my Power Machine today.  Here's a shot of the box so you can see exact specs.  The CG is slightly off line of the pin and MB, but what does that matter?  I can't wait to punch it up.

I hope that it impresses me enough to be the first ball out.  I've had great success with the Meanie for the four weeks I've had it.  Here is the layout on the Meanie:

Sometimes the Meanie just gets to be too much, sometimes early.  It's worked great overall on the league shot, but sometimes I have to concentrate VERY hard on projecting it far down the lane to keep it on the right side, or change my hand position more to the side of the ball for more side rotation, length, and a bigger backend move.  The problem is both of these adjustments force me to be a bit erratic.  I was thinking maybe I'd just layout the Power almost exactly the same, pin above the fingers, in a layout of about 45 degrees, which is basically how the Meanie is laid out.  Any thoughts on this?  I figure with the same layout, I'll just let the differences in cover and core make the differences.  If you have any other recommendations, I'm open to them.  I probably won't get it punched till Saturday.  I can't wait, it LOOKS great, I love purple!

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

302--

Honestly, I didn't have a problem with you questioning whether or not I needed this ball.  I only got this one because I won 1300 bucks with the Mean, I figured I'd give it a shot.  It did really bother me when you said:

Well you gave the other guy a few months back a ton hassle about buying another ball. You pretty much followed him around thread after thread saying the same thing, "get lessons". Don't feel that good does it ?

I only recommended he get lessons once.  And as I said before, I do get lessons, and know they are valuable.  I know I don't have the best form, and I know you'd beat me 7 or more games out of 10.  I never said otherwise.  But I DON'T "follow people" around and pester them with stuff like "get lessons."  You're selectively remembering one thing I said to the guy.  The get lessons comment came when he asked in a thread if people thought he should get a particular ball, and I and others recommended he spend the money on lessons instead.  I was trying to help a brother out.

Anyhow, I got it punched up today and laid it out pretty much exactly the same as the Meanie.  Pin above ring, 45 degree layout.

That layout sure does look familiar.

I think you will really like it, I like mine even more than my Mean which I like a ton.

I think you will like the the Power alot. Mean never seemed to work well for me because of my speed and loft but the Power really is a touch more versatile and is usually the first ball out of my bag now with that same drilling.
