Track's Product Recommendation Tool
« on: November 24, 2014, 01:44:56 PM »
Has anyone tried it?

For those of you that have new track equipment.

Try it. http://www.trackbowling.com/

Does it pick the ball you bought based on Specs and Lane Condition?

This tool might get bowlers in the right area. The only issue I see is someone definition of oil conditions being the issue.

Storm's website has a similar feature: "Matchmaker." http://www.stormbowling.com/

I tried the Matchmaker and came up with a ball that I would not have considered. I did not buy the "match." But I think that these tools have some validity.

I am not sold on the tools. I tried the Storm version at got a recommendation I didn't think was right. So I tried a little experiment. I changed factors one at a time....and until I got to the extreme dry side of things....it recommended the same ball every time. It was one of their newer releases....maybe not top of the line, but a newer ball none-the-less. So I think these things are more marketing ploy, then tool. They might be helpful for the beginner bowler, looking to move into some high-end equipment for the first time.....for any more advanced or more serious bowler, you are better off talking with your local Pro Shop for advice over these types of tools. I haven't seen or tried the Track one yet, but I am betting it is similar to Storm's.

Jorge, you are probably right. I changed some of the variables on the "Matchmaker" and kept coming up with "Lights Out"---a new release at the time and a very nice ball but not what I wanted.

I got the same results with both companies. Just keep saying the ball I needed was the newest release . I'm thinking it's a marketing tool

Keep in mind the Track tool needs a little more accurate of your personal stats. Being off can result in a inaccurate result. Also, the tool will give you three other selections that you might like at the bottom of the page. For me it often gives me the result I would pick, and if the main ball is one I am already sure doesnt get the job done, one of the three at the bottom works.
Play with it. You can change the lane condition and get a different answer. You may have to move more than one step dowm or up to get the ball change but that is mostly because you may be able to blend out the slightly different condition with the same ball.

Wow.  I just tried it and it came up with the exact ball I was considering and the one that the pro-shop has recommended.  We'll see how accurate it is if I get that ball in the near future.
