Favorite track balls of all time and their replacements.
« on: August 01, 2003, 12:01:59 PM »
Went old school tonight w/my track stuff after being in a slump for about a month now, said screw all the stuff in my bag and went back to my old stuff. Threw a purple pearl elite, heat, heat 2 and had great success w/them. I know the threat is supposed to be the heat, but it's just not the same for me. At first, my hex acted like my elite, but lost it and started rolling sooner. My crunch reacts kind of like my heat 2, but not exactly. Any one have some old favoites that they'd like to see again and have you found another ball that reacts similar?

I've tried about 10-15 track balls in my day  My all time favorites were(in order of favorite)

1. K.O. Punch
2. Red Stomp
3. Assassin
4. Track Magic(my current favorite)
5. Track Threat(I was going to put the Elite Pearl in this spot but lately you'll need a surgeon to remove the Threat from my hands.

TKO-  the original pearl,  definite "benchmark ball" and original heat also the "pearl" version not the swirl version most had. Heat was great down and in and TKO could be used for anything but for me it carried the swing shot well.

After saying this I am looking to buy the Thrash which has a core close to the old TKO. Also bought a couple Vendetta's and Vendetta Black's also with about the same core. I figure that "new" guy that runs that small company has a clue about old track stuff.

Well...it seems i've found my new favorite track ball (actually ball period), the crunch. Rolls better than my heat 2 solid, which it has replaced. I have 2, and will probably get a couple of more. This ball is terrific. I was told that the dynothane vendetta (red and black) was the elite pearl, but i've had one of these, and didn't get the same reaction either. Not to worried about it now that i will soon have an arsenal of crunches!

For me, it was the Track Flare.
An ugly color out of box, but put it and .75 in the machine
for a slight shine and it worked wonders.  Looked great too.

I hated the flare...ball just didn't fit for me. Had a Triton Heat...that ball was ok...nothing great for me, but the Track NRg...now that ball I miss greatly...I heard rumblings Track was going to re-release it...is this true???

Yes...I name my bowling balls...and as you can see those names are real original...so if you have any suggestions on what a better name would be, please let me know!

Florida State will be back...as soon as Chris Rix learns how to throw a spiral, use an alarm clock, and hang on to the ball...but they will be back.

Voodoo.  Probably the best ball I have thrown.  Probably drilled and surfaced, the best ball I have seen.

Triton Heat=irreplacable, what else can you say?
Elite Pearl, being replaced as my 'big banger' by the EMB, soon to start a new life as a control ball

Any Track or C300 oldie is welcome in my bag, if it comes out of San Antonio it's automatically good.

I have only owned one Track ball, and that was the red Stomp. This is my fourth year back in league bowling after a ten year layoff. I averaged 210 with the Stomp for a full season with it two years ago. I have been unable to find any replacement as good since it was discontinued. Anybody have any suggestions?

I loved the Red Stomp. If you can find a new 16lb with the pin over 2in please let me know. I also loved the Blue Triton and the Coral Triton. With those three balls on medium to light conditions I had the best tournament year of my life.

I had the Heat, both Elites, the Code Red, Critical Mass, and now have the Threat.  I threw my first sanctioned 300 game with the Critical Mass.   I had a few 300s with the Elite Pearl.  As far as which ones I would like to see re-released, I would not mind the Heat, Elite Pearl, Critical Mass, and Code Red.I did not get the chance to use many of the newer stuff like the Hex, VooDoo, Heat IIs.

Mine was the sensor 2, but Track has forgotten us guys who either have a ton of hand, slow speed or both, so I've had to go elsewhere with my money. If Track ever decided to get back in the light/medium market i might look at them.

My Triton Elite Pearl. It has been the first out of my bag since new in 99 and only since I got an inferno has that changed. I have loved how on a med to light condition I could always find a place to swing the ball and on slick or tight lanes I can play that ball straighter than anything i own. I tried to by a hex but it was discontinued and I bought the Inferno instead. My favorite as long as I still can use it will always be the Elite Pearl.

Track Enforcer......very versatile medium to heavy oil ball.  I shoot very well when I use this ball, so well I picked up five more of them for the future.

If I had to ask for a re-release of Track equipment, it would be the TKO Contender and the Enforcer.
