I just got to thinking. What with the new rules pertaining to bowling ball manufacturing, is it possible that today's equipment might actually be "better" then that of a couple of years from now? As a 180's bowler, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't notice the difference, but I was just wondering. My own thinking is that manufactures will step up to the challenge quite well.

What new rules?  The 0.060" diff rule?  That affected about 4% of the balls made.  And there were balls that covered every condition just as well or better than those affected.  Nevermind that Lane 1 could continue to manufacture the SCB in perpetuity.

Or the "USBC logo" rule?  Not going to affect performance at all.  Price maybe, as it'll add an extra step to manufacturing.

The CG-within-1"-of-palm rule got shot down, as did the weighthole rule.  And with good cause.

The hardness rule, like the diff rule, didn't really affect any existing equipment.  Even the LM Diamond Particle wasn't affected.
