For the Track faithful....
« on: May 17, 2007, 11:09:11 AM »
What started your Track craze?  What Track balls have you owned?

I believe for me it was sometime in 1995, while I was working in a bowling alley.  One day after work, I got a couple of lanes just for fun and giggles.  Anyway, the owner of the house came up to me and said, "Hey, throw this for a while."  It was a Track NRG.  My scores absolutely sucked, but I loved seeing that ball hook, so I bought it from him, and put minimal effort in to learning the ball or the game-I was just having fun.  Unfortunately when I bowled sometime in '96, the ball was stolen from me.

So I went back into the market for another ball.  Remembering the fun I had with the NRG, I just decided to stick with Track, so I bought a Sensor Xcel(I want to say I bought this one in '99).  The hook wasn't nearly as large as the NRG, but it was alot of fun to go down and in with.  That ball I kept for a very long time until a gave it to a friend of mine not too long ago who is just learning the game.

After that(Maybe in 2000) I bought a Champ, and T.K.O Contender.  Funny thing is, I had no clue about what these balls did either, other than it was Track, and "it looked cool".  Keep in mind, I still knew absolutely nothing about this game.  To date, my high sanctioned game(300-2001,2004) are with these two.  I've retired them recently, but I'll never give these up.

Track Silencer-Can't remember when I got this one.  But I remember the hook wasn't so great with this one, but it has become one hell of a spare ball.

Track Phenom-I don't remember when I bought this one either, but I do know this was the last ball I bought based on looks, and no knowledge of this game.  A couple of months ago, I did record my highest sanctioned series (783) to date.  At this point, I was still doing it for sheer fun.  I bowled bad...I bowled okay...I didn't care, it was just for kicks....until October of 2006.

My brother(who is the reason I started bowling in the first place) decided to get back into bowling, and started the smack talk.  That put the competitive side of me into motion.  So, I started reading, researching, talking to those who bowl well week in and week out, learned what drillings my balls had, etc.  First thing I noticed, was the 4 out of 5 balls I had were all stack leverage-no variety at all.  And then I looked at my equipment, and decided to get them all resurfaced, and plugs replaced.  This alone improved my game, but I wanted more.

In the league I was in, I'm sure I had the oldest equipment out.  So I found trackbowling.com, and gained more knowledge while working on my footwork, release, speed, finding my lines, etc.

When that slowly started coming together, I wanted to start acquiring more up to date equipment.  This is where the Mean Machine(January '07),  Power Machine(January '07), Phoenix (March '07), and Total NV (April '07) come in.  That mixed with the years of knowledge I forced into my brain in a few months brought me up from a 173 mid way through the season, to 212 to finish.  The last 5 weeks, I did not shoot lower than 720.  Lol, and to think, I'm just getting started (hopefully).

Heh.  I've never owned a Synergy, but I've thrown one before back in the day.  It was a fun ball.

My first reactive ball was a track critical mass back in 94.Before that it was the good ol yellow dot. I didn't know what ball to get till I found an article in popular science. Never threw the ball till city tournament and took first in all events. Right now I'm throwing just about everything but still holding on to my critical mass.

Been throwing Track since Phil started it up in Solon, Ohio which was not all that far away from me and the pro shop. Phil was always in the pro shop and bowled in leagues at the Brunswick House nearby. I started with the Urethane Black Enforcer. Shot my first 300 with a Burgandy Enforcer Polished W/2:00 Pin .. 1st game out of the box. Track 10 was a good ball. Loved the Purple Critical Mass. That was a money ball for me. The Flare and Synergys were great. Pin up Triton Heat and Hot Coral were great. The Contender was a Monster drilled leverage.

Track Balls I have had and have: 62 total I believe

Black Enforcer; 3, Blue Enforcer; 2, Burgandy Enforcer, Track 10; 2, Sensor; 2, Sensor C, Sensor II, Flare, Synergy Solid, Synergy Pearl, Critical Mass; 2, Code Red; 2, NRG; 2, Ocean Blue Triton, Hot Coral Triton; 2, Triton Heat; 2, Triton Elite; 2, TKO, TKO Punch; 2, TKO Contender, Track Magic, Boxing Glove; 2, Super Freak, Freak Out, Thrash, Animal; 2, Mutant, Rule; 2, Xception 5.0, Phenom, Rule GP2, Desert Heat, Flaming T, Heat Wave, Inertia; 2, Phoenix, Machine, Mean Machine; 3, Power Machine; 3, Equation 2, Robo Rule; 2.

Wow, Carl, that's quite a list. I see that you didn't have a chance to throw any of the Synergy line. I had the Pearl and I wish I would have bought a few more. I have a friend that bought 5 of them and he still has 2 NIB but won't part with them. He's been offered $300 a few times, but just won't bite!

For me it started when I was a junior in highschool. I knew about track for a while but I never owned one of the balls they made. Going into sectional I knew that the year befor hand I had a problem with the heavy oil. I had just started working at west side in the back. I havent had a ball drilled brand new in about a year. I loved my Icon but I needed something more. I started talking to carl and around that time he just got ahold of a strom Fear Factor. I was set to get that ball then he said that track was brining out a ball that was stronger and perfect for heavy oil. I waited and got the animal (still upset 2 days after seconals and I didnt do well on the oil.), Carl drilled it for me and I was hooked. This ball did everything I wanted it to do. I may have used it on some conditions I shouldnt have but at the time I only trusted it. This ball is still to this day my fav. and started my list. My list is as it stands know in order of me getting them:

Animal
Havoc
EMB Pearl
Crash
Rule GP2
Rule
Animal Untamed
Sheer Havoc
Crunch Time
Xception 5.0
2 Desert Heat
Rule Delta 1

Solution PP
Inertia
Mean Machine
Machine
Power Machine
