Delta 1 Advice
« on: January 20, 2007, 02:24:43 AM »
I bought a Delta 1 used from someone on this site. Don't remember who. I can't seem to find a surface where the ball isn't so condition-sensitive. On the right condition, this thing kills. But on everything else it carries like a wet noodle. I've tried 900 box, 900 polished, 600 matte, 600 polished, and now 1200 matte. My 600 polished V2 particle outhooked and out carried my Delta last Thursday. What surfaces have some of you guys/gals had success with? This thing has potential. I just need to get it out. Thanks for looking.

Since it's an asymmetric, how you have it drilled can and usually does make a huge difference.

Have you tried any of the higher (finer) grits, like 1500, 2000 or 4000?
(2000 & 4000 usually need Abralon pads.)

Also when you polished did you use Magic Shine? It's a gritless polish, which means the underlying grit level doesn't change. When applying MS, you can apply a light version or a high gloss version.

Another option is to use Track's Clean and Sheen. It's a compound finish. That means the shine results are halfway between a matte or dull finish and glossy polish. One can start at any grit level, say 600 grit or 1500 grit and then apply C&S. It has abrasive (grit) in it and different amounts and different pressure can provide a wide ranges of finishes.
