Help with Machine
« on: April 09, 2006, 06:45:51 PM »
Hello Trackers,

I recently drilled a machine and I am really happy for my choice. My problem is that my former ball (Ebonite Super Solar) was not drilled properly and I had a problem finding the correct line although I faced consistency problems).
I have my machine drilled from another driller qualified from Track and although both my balls are 15Lbs, because of the better drilling and gripping, I throw the machine way too faster that my other ball.
This is a problem because the ball reacts too late and doesn't make it to the pocket.

What can I do for this? Put some magic shine on it? Slow my ball speed down a little bit?

You have 3 choices either lower your speed, move farther outside where there is more dry or dull it down a bit.
Magic shine will make it go even longer.
If you decide to dullen it a bit I would start with a gray scotchbrite which is basically 1000 grit. I don't suggest using sand paper cause it will have an ill affect on the particle that is in the cover.
If that isn't enough green is 600 and burgandy is 320, don't think you will need to go that far though.

I agree with the 3 choices above...for me, the easiest thing to do is move until I find a friction spot that lets the ball roll instead of skidding, which your Machine is doing too much of right now...then, I would lower your speed next...as a last resort, I would change the surface....I am always hesitant to do so with mine until I feel there is no other option.

Thank you both guys for your great advice!

I agree with clint for not to dull the surface. I will try to focus on lowering the speed and moving outsite and I will let you know how I did.
