Here's what I'm thinking so far.....
« on: March 12, 2012, 11:37:48 AM »
As I've mentioned in the past, I have a 607A (which is one of best balls I've ever thrown) and a 503C for short patterns/drier lanes. I'm definitely going to get the 716T when it comes out later on in the week and I like to get something else to go along with those.

I'm just wondering which would be the best direction to go with filling a gap......between the 716T and the 607A or the 607A and the 503C. Or maybe even get another 607A, just tweaking the layout.

I dont think you have any real huge gaps in there.  Have you thought about getting the 300 series ball since according to your profile, you would rather play up the boards as opposed to stand left, throw right?

Ended up ordering a 716T and 716C.

Steven, I toyed with the idea on getting a 300T a while back, but after some thought that I can already play fairly straight with the 503C, I had a hard time imagining when I would ever find a time and place to throw it.......but thanks for the suggestion regardless.

Those are good balls, and think you'll really like them.  I really can't think of a huge gap in your arsenal.  One option was the 300T but the 503C can be used in a similar way.  Only thing possibly could be a 919C to go between the 716T/C and the 608ASE.  That ball works well on medium-heavy oil and could be drilled to fit in between.   But even that can be close enough to the 608 that you may not need it.

My Arsenal (as of February 2012)
Heavy Oil:  Roto Grip Defiant: 3000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Track 919C: 3000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Ebonite Vital Energy: 4000 AB
Medium Oil: Track 505T: 4000 AB
Medium-Light Oil: Hammer Brick: 2000 polished
Current Ball Arsenal
Heavy:
MOTIV Jackal Legacy
MOTIV Mythic Jackal

Med-Heavy:
MOTIV Trident Odyssey
MOTIV Forge Fire
MOTIV Covert Revolt

Medium:
MOTIV VIP ExJ Sigma
MOTIV Sigma Sting
MOTIV Pride Solid

Medium-Light
MOTIV Venom Shock
MOTIV Tribal Fire

Got to throw the 716C the other night, shot a low 600 set with it. The ball itself looked fine, it was more user error and the fact I neglected to take the factory finish off the ball (why EBI/Powerhouse go over board on the factory finish, I'll never know).

Will throw the 716T Tuesday night.

One simple explanation...shelf appeal.  They look pretty that way.  :D  Virtually never do my customers walk out with the factory finish on a ball bought from me.  I want to make sure I can replicate it later and one uniform surface does not work for everyone.

I know. Honestly it was my own fault for not at least hitting the ball with something last week. I should have learned from the 607A when I first threw it with the box finish the ball went 90 feet. Once I went 1000/2000/4000 with it, the ball turned into a absolute beast.

As for the 716T, all I can say is wow. I've been waiting for this piece to come out since Fagan threw it at the Masters and needless to say, it did not disappoint. Shot 734 with it tonight while only missing the pocket once and for the first time since subbing in this league, I was able to play the lanes with my "A" game......instead of throwing it slow, which is something I have to really bear down to do.
