What to do, what to do???
« on: May 31, 2005, 07:26:41 PM »
okay so ive been super impressed by the slash and its power in the oil, but i have this need to want something more maybe on the lines of a particle ball. now bruns has got the best particle that i have heard and i know that the swamp monster was the ish. but w/o getting into that too much, what will the 5.0 give me over the slash, the numbers are the same, but the cores and covers are different, so am i looking the same amount of hook and length with less slip or what.

also i know the ball is not in the publics hands yet but i think clint or ex has it so im looking for their input really, but if others have it or both really please let me konw what youve witnessed.

recognize_talent,

The link above has vidoes of me throwing several balls, including the Slash and the X 5.0.

If you are wanting something particle for floods the Rule GP2 is the one to grab!

Now, to compare the Slash and 5.0:
The Slash is smoother throughout the entire lane than the 5.0. The 5.0 reads the mids at about the same point that the Slash does, but it will give you so much more in the backend. The 5.0 opens up the lane much better than the Slash. I see the Slash as more of a true medium ball, and the 5.0 fills the med/heavy slot perfectly. They both hit well, but I think that the 5.0 is a little stronger in that department.

If you like the Slash and want to add something stronger and with an entirely different look on the lanes the 5.0 will give you that.

Slash is the best benchmark ball out there right now! 5.0 will be a touc longer with plenty more move on the backend.

okay so now guys what about the 5.0 against the ultimate inferno? part vs reactive but with a lower rg (2.52 v. 2.45) am i looking at just a better grip on the lane and a harder turn when i contact the dry?

In general, a particle pearl will get down the lane decent, and still have the turn on the backend because of the particle, unlike other pearls that may skate in some oil. The Ultimate was a dud in my area, as in the 2 leagues I bowled almost every week in this year, there were NONE on the racks. I only drilled a couple right when they first came out, but around my area, nothing. So, as for side by side, I really dont know, but from what I saw of the Ultimate, it was a decent medium ball. Due to the reactive cover, it didn't like floods, and from being dull, it did not like dry either. The 5.0 will probably be more versatile for you in the long run.

recognize_talent,

WELL...long before I was on staff I had an Ultimate Inferno. It did not match up to my game at all. I put my favorite layout on it and....nothing. It wouldn't turn in oil, on mediums it didn't have enough power at the pin deck.

From everything that you are describing that you want, get the 5.0. It will not disappoint.

darn this whole nation commitment and my loyalties, but any how im getting there. the choice will be made soon. i think....

Hey recognize,

This is exactly the difference between the UI and 5.0.  The 5.0 will go longer and offers a much stronger backend reaction.  Even with my pin stable (on centerline under fingers) and the mb on val, it just turns over and continues very nicely.

recognize_talent,

I really liked the Raging the Inferno. The difference between it and the 5.0 is that the 5.0 will backend stronger. From what I remember (I haven't thrown the raging in over a year), they get into their roll at about the same point then the similiarites end there. The 5.0 opens up a lane much better.

(side note) The reason that I stopped throwing the Raging is pretty sad actually (aside from joining staff), the Raging is the only ball that I have ever owned that died. I could not bring it back. Ask anyone here, I am pretty good about keeping my stuff clean. The Raging was gone.
