How Strong Is The Solution Power Plus?
« on: November 29, 2005, 06:29:40 AM »
I have a Ti Messnger Traction and looking for something a bit stronger.  Would the Solution fit the bill?

Thanks!

Stronger than the Traction?  I don't think it would be, unless your Traction is drilled really weak or polished up.  You might want to check out the Arsenal Reactive or the Delta 1.  Maybe the Slash.  We've got a guy here with a Traction and it seems very strong.

Just fromt he nature of them, the Traction was particle, the Solution PP is resin and uses a low flare version of the Slash core....the Solution will roll later than the Traction, unless you have the Traction drilled weak and glossed.

Something a touch stronger? Blue Heat, Arsenal Aggressive....

The Traction is equivalent to the Slash, as Columbia's Super-Flex Enhanced coverstock is equivalent to Track's PowerPlus Ex coverstock.

Stronger, as in handling more oil and hooking earlier, in the Track line, sticking to symmetric cores might be the Blue Heat and the Arsenal Aggressive, seeing as they are particle balls. Possibly the Arsenal Reactive also, due to its super aggressive core.

I don't think the Traction was particle.  It was smooth like a particle ball, but was plain old Enhance Superflex.

I do not think the Solution would be enough.  If you want to go with Track, the Arsenel series is definitely the way to go.  They are going to be stronger than the Traction with still the control of a symmetric core.  Just out of curiousity......are you talking stronger as in overall hook or backend reaction?

I thought I remembered hearing the "Enhanced" SuperFlex had some particle in it? Maybe not....

Lucky Lefty said that someone at Columbia told him that; I reserve my doubts. Someone at Track also told me those 2 coverstocks (Super-Flex Enhanced and PowerPlus Ex) are virtually identical, for all intents and purposes. Wish I could remember whom. Polishing some of these Columbia-based and Track-based particle coverstocks makes them VERY close to plain resin. Polishing others makes them close to polished particles.

If that's true, since it's not really a backend type of ball, I'd suspect you're using it on too much oil and that you probably have a bit of hand (or maybe you put the pin too high or too far away from your PAP??). I'd suggest sanding it to 600 grit and trying it again. Shame to let such a nice ball sit idle.
