is this too much to ask for?
curently bowling in a league with fried/patchy lanes. i've been swinging the ball out in extreme fashion with my silver streak pearl for about a month now. i'm actually looking for track ball that can go even longer than ssp and come back harder.

For length you are not looking for Track!
Great balls but long is not their strong suit! Most of their balls have early rolling low rg and also high diff for lots of flare. Neither adds up to length.
These types of setups often lead to lots of midlane.
I'm very impressed with some Storm manufactured Stuff I have for length.
Rotogrip sonic Boom, an El Nino Wrath(similar to Exception).
Other super long balls. Dynamic Groove from Brunswick, Big hit pearl from Storm,
Intense Inferno, Pro Stock Pearl from storm, older Hot Rods. Also recently seen winning on TV when length was needed the Ice from Ebonite.

My Dry Heat isn't too shabby on the desert. Has a nice finish to it for such a dry lane, not much to the core type of ball, but I have NEVER thrown a Roto Grip, so I can not compare for you. My HexPlosion also is a great ball, but probably more cover than you want.

The Crash and Hexplosion have excellent length. The Hexplosion, with equal polish will push the most but the Crash is much sharper downlane. They are NOT low RG. They have the same if not higher RG than the SSP. The Dry Heat is also another excellent med/dryer ball. It´s smoother downlane than the Crash and Hexplosion but it still can turn the corner and hits very well.
That being said, more information is needed about the SSP and what layout it currently has to help with ball suggestion/layouts. Furthermore, more information regarding the desired ball reaction is needed. You say you want more length, but harder backend. That could result in a ball that hooks more. Do you want just more length than the SSP but smoother since they are "fried/patchy"? Judging by your profile, it looks like the Scout is not the correct ball so probably other similar 3-piece balls aren´t the answer.
Just provide a little more info and I´m sure tenpinspro, EXCALIBER, myself and others will gladly suggest a Track ball and layout.

My Hexplosion can be used on drier lanes than I was able to use the sonic X pearl when I had it. I have thrown several Rotos, and the sonic x pearl was the best for dry, but the Hexplosion does not jump as hard when it encounters dry like the sonic X pearl.
The Hexplosion is light load particle but reacts more like a reactive. I have been more impressed with it on the dry stuff than I was with the Dry Heat.
ALSO, if you want something to get down the lane and move really hard off of the dry.....AND not break the bank, as Chapman mentioned the Crash is awesome! It is stronger than anything in the Groove series and hits harder. The Crash is probably your best bet because it will open up a lane when they get spotty like nothing else. You will need some oil to help get it down the lane, and as long as you can find a dry area down the lane it will just EXPLODE in the backends.

Hey ash,
I'd also have to agree with achappy and Ex on the choice of the Crash. You can polish this ball up and it will get downlane farther than the SSP and still have a very strong backend reaction. I have mine at around 4x4 high glossed and that's the look it gives me. Very clean through the heads and a very strong finish. Hope this helps..

Try A Dry heat or a freakazoid drilled right or go columbia with a super trooper and or panic.

The crash is a good choice and so is the Crunch time. I have a Crunch time drilled on a 6" by 4" pin above the Middle finger and it is super clean through the front and corners very hard. The more I move left and swing it the better it looks. The Dry Heat is very clean through the front and if drilled properly it corners like a big ball. If you read the reviews on it you will find several comments stating that it finished a lot more than expected.
My bowling partner is on Roto Grip staff and he likes the silver streaks but has a lot of trouble on the carry down with them. The silver streaks are good balls but the storm covers tend to be weaker than the Track covers. That relates to a little more skid but they tend to wiggle when they hit the carry down.

I've got two Track balls for this. My RevMaster goes really long and flips hard. Use it for sport conditions and sometimes medium oil. My Dry Heat goes super long and flips pretty hard. Thanks to Rick Leong for that drilling. I'm glad to have that one in the bag for dry lanes.

I recently bought a RotoGrip UltraSonic from Buddies, with grips and, slug for less then $100 out the door. I wanted the ball for a down and in shot outside of 5 that would not jump too much, good ball so far.
