Thanks Excaliber!
« on: February 04, 2005, 09:02:12 PM »
I'd just like to thank my good friend Carl out here.  I had him on the phone for over an hour (kept him from going home) last week discussing the drill on my 2nd GP2.  He convinced me to go with a stronger drill and boy was he right.

I went 4 3/4 x 3mb near val with the pin about 3.5 above midline, sitting over bridge.  Even with the pin in a more stable position, the mb placement of 3 really helps this ball pull in oil and just continues incredibly.  It's about 5 more then my first one and I thought the first one hooked!  Threw about 4 practice shots last friday with it but the lanes were too dry, had to put it away (bowl400 and Doc Hollywood can attest to that).  Didn't get to practice (been sick) but pulled it out anyway Wed in my scratch league and threw a few shadow balls with both GP2's and this one was much stronger and opened up the backends for me easily.  Ended up shooting 226, 242 and 235...first 3 games out of box, not too shabby I'd say considering my thumb hole also needed work.  I wasn't coming out as clean as I would've liked.  First time I've shot back to back 7's in this league, something's always different but the 2 GP2's are sure not seeing the lane differences.  Thanks again Carl and to my Boss' at TRACK for making a great piece.....

if you get it in a leverage position with your hand and slow ball speed it will flare too much and be flat on the backend. If you get the pin too far away from your axis the weight block will be too vertical and will wait too long to turn over making it have a over under reaction.

Hey Mitch,

What if we do a 4.25-4.5 pin about 3 above mid and a 2.5-3 mb for him?  This is what I was thinking about in regards to his roll.  The shorter mb placement will help pull but keeping the pin just a little further out past lev should give him the offset and continuous motion.  What do you think?

They should react very well. I would drill one ball 4.25 and mass bias 2.5 and another ball 4.5 and a 3 mass bias. The first should give strong midlane roll and good backend and the second should be a little longer with a more angular backend without giving up the midlane roll.

Both good suggestions.

I drilled the two arsenals yesterday and they are very sweet. I like both of them a lot. I will give a good review in a couple of days after I throw them a little more. They are just what they are supposed to be so far. The angular is longer and sharper that the freakazoid and the aggressive is earlier and more.
