Layout help for a Delta, please ...
« on: January 12, 2006, 12:23:55 PM »
I'm getting a single-drill/used Delta and I would like some recommendations for a bowler of my style and with my PAP (I have a copy from the TRACK website for drill patterns to reference) ... my stats are:

"Power stroker, 232 rpms off my hand, 17.5 mph ball speed, axis rotation is 75-80 degrees, axis tilt is 15-20 degrees, and my PAP is 4 3/4 and 1/2 up"

I would like this to be my strongest reactive ball, which shouldn't be a problem, based upon what I've read about it; also, I'd like it to get through the heads and midlanes smoothly and have a strong, continous move to the pocket and through the rack (strong arc).

Thoughts ???

Robb,

You describe the reaction I have gotten out of the Delta with whichever layout I have chosen.

How is the Delta currently drilled?

Carl,
The current layout, with a span MUCH longer than mine, is pin above ring and the mb just to the right of the thumb.

Robb,

I would say to go strong with it. Place the pin below the fingers (1 1/2- 1 3/4 in above midline) 3 3/4 from PAP------being a stroker or "power stroker" I would place the MB in a strong position from PAP as well.....roughly 3 1/2- 3 3/4 from PAP should work well.

Goodluck,

Yes, or very close to it. I wouldn't go much closer to the thumb than that.
