Rounding our Tournament Arsenals for Megabucks Month
« on: January 11, 2006, 09:23:51 AM »
Hey Everyone,

It's that time again. Time to get ready for Vegas and a shot at the big money. I have a core group of equipment (listed below) that has been working for me but I know I'm missing a couple of things. Please feel free to plug in any Track ball you think is need to round out an 8 ball arsenal (drilling suggestions encouraged).

Also list your arsenals that you will be taking if you will be competing this year.

Thanks,
DW

GP2 (3 x 3) Thinking of redrilling to save a little energy.
Rule (3 3/8 x 3)
FAZ (4 1/4 x 3)
Desert Heat (3 3/8 x 4)

hey dw...what's up? Good luck in Vegas. I will be there too. Kind of relieved to see another bowler here participating in the Megabucks. Still getting my feet wet as this is my 2nd year. Kind of a mini-vacation at the same time.

What events are you participating in? I'll be at the TAT at Palace Station most of the week and might give the Mini a try for one squad. Gonna check out the Hi-Roller, but just to soak in the fun and watch all the great bowlers...

Your arsenal looks great.
Here's what mine looks like so far...
Listed from Heavy-Light

Track GP-2 = 3 inch pin with 4 1/2 pin x 3 1/2 mb layout (Pin to right/above of ring finger, mb near val)
Ebonite The One = 3 inch pin with 5 x 5 1/4 mb layout (Pin under ring - MB in Strong - 800 Grit Scuffed)
Track Rule Delta 1 = 3 inch pin with 5.5 pin x 4 mb layout (Pin directly under bridge with WH about 6" over - 1200 Grit Scuffed)
(Empty Slot for Light/Medium Load Particle - Ambush?-Fuze Eliminator?-Arsenal Aggressive?-Angular?-Blue Heat?)
Track Slash = Pin under bridge 5 1/2" x 3 3/8 for a smooth controllable arc type reaction.
Track Heat = Pin over bridge 5 1/2 x 3 3/4
(Empty Slot for Light/Burnt/Dry - Track Desert Heat?)

Hit me back when you can and good luck!

Good luck in Vegas.  I'm going to the Honkie in April.

What's up Ramtart,
I will be bowling the TAT for sure. I'm probably going to hit the Mini and take a look at the other couple of tournaments that are there the same week. I've been going to the TAT since the beginning (when it was called the TAC) but I took last summer off so I'm really looking forward to getting back out there.

Your arsenal looks good too. What kind of reaction do you get from your Delta and what condition do you use it for?

Chitown,
Thanks for the well wishes. Hope you do well in the Honkie so Track is well represented. I think my friends and I are going to try to get to the Honkie as well but I'm not sure when.

Thanks,
DW

Ram....can't go wrong with either the Aggressive or Blue Heat in the light load particle category and the Desert for toasty conditions.

Dw....here is what I would do:

GP2
Delta
Xception 5.0/Angular
Aggressive/Blue Heat
Rule
FAZ
Slash/Heat/Heat Blast
Desert

Here is what I will be carrying:

I have 6 Gp2s for around here, but when I go places this is what I carry:

GP2
Delta
Robo
Animal
Phenom Unleashed 3.0
Arsenal Reactive
Heat Blast
Spare ball-coming soon

I am looking at the Arsenal Artillery and Machine as well, but since I have no idea what they are yet, I do not know where they may fit for me, if they fit at all in what I am trying to accomplish right now.

I'll be bowling the 1:00 pm squad on Monday the 6th at the Hi Roller.  This is my 7th year.  Hope they stock up on the Crown!

Clint,
Is your Arsenal Reactive polished? What reaction do you get from your Heat Blast. I'm looking at that to fit under my FAZ. I drilled one 5.0 but I didn't like the reaction so maybe I'll redrill (I hate redrilling equipment) and try it out before I go.

Thanks,
DW

Arsenal Reactive has 2 finger holes in.....finishing it, the Delta, and the 3.0 tonight. However, I see no reason to polish it right now, sort of defeats the purpose to me as with a low rg ball, you want it to roll early, and polish will make it skid...

I do not have a Heat Blast yet...it is on my to get list ASAP!

DPat,
The GP2 starts to early. It seems to burn up and not have anything left for the backend.

DW,

I like your arsenal...you definately have the heavier stuff pretty well covered...but I think you lack a couple of things in the medium category. I would leave the GP2 alone....if you drill it to start up earlier you are really going to see some burnup out of it.

I would add a couple of balls.....things that would give you a different look in the medium area. An Arsenal Angular to give a bit more backend recovery. I also think that a Solution PP added in there for more of a smooth reaction on the mediums would be good as well.

I do not have a Heat Blast as of yet either. The "word" (which is coming strictly from internet people is that the Blast is going to be the new "benchmark" ball. I have to admit, it does have me intrigued.

Goodluck....and bowl well.

Thanks Ex,
I'll leave the GP2 alone and see what happens. I am very intrigued by the Blast because the core looks like one from one of my favorite Track balls of all time, the Ocean Blue Triton. I think I'm going to try the arsenal listed below.

GP2
Rule
Arsenal Angular, Sheer Havoc or Phenom Unleashed 3.0
FAZ
Heat Blast or Crash
Desert Heat
