New to Track
« on: July 19, 2005, 12:02:03 AM »
I recently purchased my first Track ball, the Rule. I have
thrown 8 games with it so far and have had 5 200+ games, a
197 game and a couple bad games, one where I just threw bad
shots and one where I had trouble finding the proper line.
Love the ball so far. I wamted a ball that would allow me
to play a deeper line. So far it has fit the bill. I am a
lefty. Ball is drilled leverage, with the pin just to the
left of my index finger. No balance hole. I boughtthis ball
after doing quite a bit of research. The BTM reviews were
what swayed me and it came down to the Rule or the GP2.
I decided on the Rule because it was rated slightly better
on medium oil.
It is interesting to me that the two Treck balls that got
the best BTM reviews, in the past year, are seldom discussed
on this site. Is it because they are somewhat older releases
or is it that the people who post here don't have either of
these balls?
Just curious. And wondered what other Track users thought
of this ball.

I think I may be Mr GP2...as I have 8 of them right now, for my arsenal. I truly believe it may be the most versatile ball for me in a long while. The higher Rg core helps my high rolly track get through the heads better, while the strength of the core and cover can still get the job done in oil. Also, the cover is very versatile, versatile enough to polish the ball up, as all of Track's offerings are. The GP2 was introduced in January.

The Rule was a great medium ball for me. It got through the heads nicely and had some pop on the backend. It takes cover changes very nice as well. The GP2 is about 4-5 boards EASILY more than the GP2 with factory surface.

Can you clarify that for me?

What I meant is if you compare the GP2 vs the original Rule, both with their factory surfaces, the GP2 is 4-5 boards stronger than the Rule, easily in my book.

Thanks!

allengrace,

Welcome to the team.

The Rule and GP2 have both gotten very positive feedback on this site. The Rule is nearly a year old now, so its traffic has backed off a bit. When someone wants a ball that is made for heavy oil the GP2 almost always gets mentioned.
